For you to enjoy stereo sound whilst watching digital TV, or any of the many radio stations that accompany them, you have several options.

Firstly, if you have an integrated digital TV, you can be sure that stereo sound will be part of the package.

If you are using a set-top box, as long as you have connected your TV using a SCART cable and your TV has two speakers, you will be a stereophonic viewer.

If you have an older television set with a single speaker, or there is no SCART connection, you can easily connect your set-top box to you stereo. All you need is a suitable cable (called a dual phono to phono lead, see image).

You connect this from the set-top box (usually the right channel is colour-coded red) to any spare suitable input on your stereo system. This may be called ?AUX?, but you can use any input other than the ?PHONO? one, if you have one.

For the best experience, you should have the TV set placed between the left and right speaker, and ideally the distance between the speakers should be about half of the distance between where you sit and the speakers.

If you use your hi-fi to listen to the TV sound, don't forget to turn the TV volume right down.
