What price for an aerial installation?

What prices have you been quoted and paid for an aerial installation?

What prices have you been quoted and paid for an aerial install
published on UK Free TV

In responses to the guideline I posted about how much having a new aerial fitted should cost, Ian Grice posted: "£40-£50? Every aerial fitter I contacted wants at least £150+VAT considering you can get a class 3 aerial for under £10 and a class 2 for under £15 and cable is 40p a metre why are they charging so much for 30 minutes work?"

OK, for some places putting up a TV aerial is hard work, such as multi-story properties. As many people will simply be exchanging a Group A, B, C/D, E or K aerial for a wideband type, often without changing the supporting pole or cable, a high price cannot be justified.

I am concerned that some companies will exploit vulnerable groups (such as the elderly).

So, I what prices have you been quoted for aerial installations? What price have you paid for installation?

Do you know of any companies to avoid? Do you know of any companies that are good value for money?

Or do you work for a great aerial installation company?

Hani: It sounds like you shouldn't be having any problems at all.

HDMI is a digital interlink, it doesn't use "modulation" and will never interfere with Freeview reception.

Can you tell explain what you mean by "since the new tv arrived, all gone wrong" please?

hey hani
really depends what is wrong you should get an installer to check it properly first and not just take peoples word for it.
i gather bt vision people did not actually check the signal with a meter.
shop around plenty of good honest guys down that way. But make sure you shop around and ask plenty of questions.

Briantist, thank you for your comment. Well the new TV his it is own freeview and so on, but whether we use the TV freeview or BT vision, we can not see the normal channels at all. One two of the TVs can, one "the latest £D one we cannot. I really do not understand it as I tried everything I was told to do. I think the aerial wires in this particular room "it runs under flooring" may have been damaged. I really to dont now what else to do. New aerial and now wiring is better solution especially because her indoors is making my life hell. hahahah.. do not tell her I said that.

Hani: Try just connecting the aerial ONLY to the BT Vision box. Then just the HDMI from BT Vision to the TV.

Don't connect ANYTHING ELSE at all, and then do this to the BT Vision box - My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

Briantist, just looked at my message and it is so bad because I keep getting disconnected and my typing goes all over the place.
with the new TV, we can not see bbc or itv or any of the normal channels. We do see them on the other TVs. so I think, the aerial wiring for this TV which runs undr flooring is damaged. That is why I am thinking, change aerial and chage wiring. I hope this come out OK and makes more sense

Hi Hani
You say all was ok till you changed your TV'
You also say the TVs in the other rooms are ok.
I take it there all running off the same aerial, because if that the case the aerial itself is working, and shouldnt need replacing.
If you want to prove wether your TV is faulty, just install into another room where you know everythings working ok.
(Only the TV forget the BT box etc)
Because unless you have done something simple like giving yourself a bad connection on your aerial lead while changing TVs, I would say you may well have a faulty TV.
I would say mind you Samsung in my opinion is top end equipment I was a main Samsung service centre for many years, and the engineering quality for domestic brown goods doesnt come much better.

Hi hani,

Often when equipment is changed the masthead psu is disturbed / unpluged leaving no signal to any point on the system, look for a plastic box with at least 1 aerial cable in & 1 aerial cable out with a electric cable & plug into the mains electric they usually are white & usually have a led which should be lit, have a quick check for this.
Good luck & dont hesitate to ask if you need further help.

After buying my daughter & I new Samsung 5 series LCD TV's at Christmas.(both in upstairs bedroom) we can only watch our digital tv on occasions its a bit hit & miss. Both tv's pixelate all the time & we have to watch analogue tv. The same tv in the lounge has a perfect picture. I have tried new leads costing a fortune, could it be the ariel? With the change over coming soon, I've got 2 expensive tv's I won't be able to watch. Help!!!
