Minister considers TV premium calls ban
Brian Butterworth published on UK Free TV Shaun Woodwood, the UK's minister for broadcasting, has told the Broadcasting Press Guild that that he would ban all premium rate TV phone ins if the broadcasters did not take the current opportunity to clean up their act.
"In the same way the advertising of children's junk food was banned, we would be prepared to do the same here, though of course I would much rather that it didn't come to that and that the broadcasters got their own house in order" he said.
The telephone regulator, Icstis, has introduced new tough rules.
However, a simple scan of the channels when they appear on Freeview appears to show that the channels are ignoring the rules.
If you see a channel that is not displaying the current number of callers and does not show the pricing information as required by the new rules, report it by posting below or make a complaint to Icstis.
