TV Licence rises by 3%
Not only does the licence fee go up today, but TV Licensing have a new logo and website!
The cost - 38.2p per day for a colour (and 12.9p for a monochrome) television is collected by the TV Licensing and handed to the BBC via the government.
It is a hypothecated tax (like the London Congestion Charge) in that all the money collected goes to provide the services. In the UK, almost all other taxes are paid directly into the government's central pot, and the services are shared out.
