For many years, fSfS (Freesat from Sky) viewers have needed to buy a 20 card from Sky to watch public service Channels 4 and five.

Today the card is also needed for five US, five Life (soon to be Fiver) and Sky Three.

With the launch of Freesat (UK) it will be necessary for the public service channels to be transmitted unencrypted.

And it now seems that Channel 4 has appeared free to air on the Astra 2D satellite, on transponder 42, just three weeks before the launch of Freesat (UK).
