Duncan: Well you cant go wrong with a Humax PVR, although what model are you thinking about? and maybe you could also mention the model of TV you are intending using the PVR with, this so that I can "check the spec" if necessary.

i have just purcahased anew freeview box. i have unplugged the old one and installed the same cables into the new freeview box as per instructions only now i cant receive any pictures in colour only in black and white. Have tried moving cables around re-tuning to no avail. Is this a fault with the new freeview box or do you think ther maybe problems with the television as there were no previous problems with t.v. or old freeview box .

Hi, I have moved my tv and sky+ box and have extended the cable. However the record feature on the box sometimes works and sometimes not also if I leave the box on and not disconnect from the mains socket I always get 'no signal being received there is a technical fault'. This is not too much of a problem but the record problem is annoying. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks

I am about to move into a flat which has a communal sky dish and an analogue aerial in the roof. Most tenants subscribe to SKY with a package of TV, phone and broadband. I do not want to do this (cost). I have a TV with HD and freeview. What aerial do I need to have to access freeview? Can I access freeview using the Sky dish (in which case what contract do I have to have with Sky).

Jane: What is the postcode of the flat so reception possibilities can be checked. Basically an "analogue" aerial will receive Freeview in Freeview areas, that is almost everywhere after switchover. Satellite reception requires a satellite box connected to your TV,either a Sky box without a subscription, a freesat box or generic satellite receiver will give the free to air channels available to your dish.

Jane: If your new flat has a communal terrestrial aerial, then it may well give you Freeview. There is no such thing as an analogue aerial or digital aerial; in a relatively few cases new aerials are needed. Whether you can get the full range of channels depends on the area you are in. If you supply the location (preferably full post code) a check can be made as to the possible likelihood of what you will get.

You might be able to use the communal "Sky" dish for Freesat. I know that you can where the dish supplies one residence.

To the pros: Will the communal satellite system work for Freesat (as well as Sky's subscription service)?

I am unable to get Sky News any more with my Freeview box.

I have disconnected Freeview box from Mains and also aerial, waited 30 secs, replugged Freeview Box Mains again and completed scan for channels. I then reinserted aerial and did another complete scan for channels again.

However, still unable to get Sky News (82 channel).

Is there a fault with my aerial?

MAGGIE: If you are out of the initial contract period and cancel your Sky package you will still be able to receive all non subscription channels exactly the same as was done before, and I would therefore suggest that you do that before thinking about changing to Freesat, albeit of course Freesat is a good service but with duplicates of lots of the programmes seen on Sky "free to view", mistakenly called by some as Freesat.
