patricia: Bring up the signal strength screen whilst on BBC One and see what UHF channel/frequency it is tuned to.

Ensure that it is tuned to UHF channel 43 / 650MHz (which is Sutton Coldfield) and not UHF channel 26 / 514MHz (which is The Wrekin). If it's tuned to The Wrekin then run the automatic tuning scan through with the aerial out for the first 30% (or until it gets past UHF channel 30).

patricia: If you are tuned into Sutton Coldfield, then its possible that the BBC channels are at slightly too high a strength for the box. Humax make (or licence) the BT box, and their tuners tend to be sensitive.

As for Nat. Geographic - as far as I'm aware, thats only available on Sky, so is it another channel that your having problems with?

After recent re-tunes i.e. 3/9/14 I cannot get Dave Ch 12 and Create & Craft Ch 36
I have also tried manual re-tuning on Frequency No's 52 - 49 - 47 - 42 - 44 - 41
47 shows no channels received !!!.

Can you offer any advice on this, the aerial is only 2 years old and was installed by by a reputable local installer who understands the local system.

Maureen Backhurst: 47 is the HD multiplex, so you need a HD receiver to pick it up. If, on your manual tuning screen, there is an option for signal mode then it should be set for DVB-T2 rather than DVB-T for the HD mux. That still doesn't help with missing Dave and Create & Craft which are on COM5, which is C44 from Heathfield.

I hate Welsh channels but I'm stuck with them because I have a Goodmans recorder with NO manual tune. Can anyone tell me why the Welsh channels are boosted to such a point that the Mendip transmitter can't provide the local channels for Bristol and the West.

In answer to your query Why are the Welsh channels so strong in Bristol,I can tell you
that they are also rock solid in Stoke-on-trent !.I guess they need high power
transmitters in Wales due to the mountainous nature of their terrain.

SomeGuyFromBristol: The PSB muxes are transmitted from both Mendip and Wenvoe at the same power, however local hills block the signal path from Mendip (and Wenvoe too) in parts of Bristol, which is why relays at Kings Weston Hill for NW parts of Bristol and Ilchester Crescent for central and Southern areas of Bristol are necessary. If your aerial is pointing to Mendip, if you want to miss out Wenvoe and Kings Weston signals before the scan reaches the required Mendip frequencies, try unplugging the aerial for the first half of the scan, plugging it in at about C46 so as to receive C48 onwards from Mendip.
