jane: If there is a signal amplifier (booster) within the aerial system then this could have failed or it could be without power.

An amplifier without power or which has failed is likely to give no signal out, even when there is one going in. Don't assume that even though its power light is on that it is in full working order; the light merely indicates that there is power to the unit.

Try bypassing the amplifier, if you can.

David Parker: NIMM stands for "Northern Ireland Mini-Multiplex".

As part of the Good Friday Agreement, RT and TG4 are carried on three transmitters in the North to complement the overspill from transmitters in the Republic.

john parker: The frequency that Mendip broadcasts BBC standard definition TV and radio services on is being changed in the early hours of Wednesday 27th March.

As Upavon relays Mendip's signal (i.e. it receives the signal off the air) it will need to be retuned accordingly. Because there are lots of relays of Mendip, it will take time for engineers to visit them all, I should imagine.

There will be no need for you to retune, and indeed you shouldn't retune, as the change only affects the signal being received by Upavon relay, and not the one it broadcasts to you.

Incidently, Digital UK suggests that you might be able to receive the full Freeview service directly from Mendip. You will, of course, need another aerial.

john parker: Digital UK has produced a trade newsletter for this event:

http://www.digitaluk.co.u….pdf

Refer to the table at the top of page 4. Upavon is among a group of relays that are *expected* to be back working for 11am.

David Parker.
Don't worry if you're spelling is no good, sometimes my grammar can be called into question, however now i'm back after a near six months layoff due to my previous PC that died just after DSO2 on the Bilsdale transmitter and my just recent unexpected relocation from Halifax to Barnsley (where a family member of mine resides),i look forward to gracing the pages of this ever valuable website once again.

Have tried several retunes this morning on Humax PVR and am still unable to get BBC1 & BBC2 without them breaking up. Unable to get them at all with Digital TV. Think we're on the Mendip transmitter and are in Winterbourne, Bristol

Lesley Green: What UHF channel are they (BBC standard definition TV and radio) coming in on? It should tell you on the signal strength screen.

Mendip's are now on C49, Bristol King's Western's are on C43, Ridge Hill's are on C28 and Wenvoe's are on C41.

Wenvoe is a high-power transmitter near Cardiff and is on roughly the same bearing as Mendip from Winterbourne, so this could be a possibility.
