My Sky box has a "no signal message" - what do I do?
If you are getting the message "no signal" this would indicate that there is a problem with the signal from your dish into your box. Even without a card inserted into a Sky Digibox, if there is a signal, you will always get Sky Guide and the free channels.
Try powering off your box, remove the card, check carefully the cables, especially the connection to the dish, reapply the power and then when asked to insert your card you should then be able to see (for example) Sky News on 501 and the BBC News channel on 503.
Once you can see any channel, reinsert your card. This should, after about one minute, give you the channels you expect, such as 103, 104 and 105.
There are three ways you can attempt to reset your box. Please see
What can my do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' ?.
If you continue to get "No signal", you dish may have been misaligned, or there may be a fault with the cables and connectors, or a problem with the Digibox. You can see the signal strength by pressing SERVICES, then 4-SYSTEM SETUP and 6-SIGNAL STRENGTH.

I have the same problem as Rachel except when I have my old sky box plugged in at the wall (but not turned on)it also reduces the signal quality on the Sky+ box to zero. In addition to this if I record a programme on Sky+ I cannot see any chanel other than the one I am recording (no signal received message shows). I have checked all connections to the box and the dish and can see no problem. Any ideas? Thanks

One of our TVs was ok on SKY but the other said '11 no signal.' Tried all the usual fixes. Swopped boxes- no change.
Phoned installer and it was fixed in an instant. The TV's own remote had been used to try and change a SKY channel instead of the SKY remote. The TV was now on channel 11 instead of the required channel 1.
Channel 1 reselected and all OK.
Spent hours trying to sort this last night!
Doh!

The only channels I get a problem with "no signal" are BBC channels including BBC1 and News 24. All other channels are OK. the signal strength etc is fine. This started about a month ago.

Efe - Freeview requires an externally mounted TV aerial for satisfactory digital TV reception.

Hi, we have had 2 re- conditioned boxes, a new dish and the dish was re positioned, but after 5 minutes of watching it comes up with no signal being received.
We've had 3 engineers come out and tested the signal strength which they said it was o.k
I' m really frustrated at not having a t.v to watch for 3days. We've been customers for 9years and have had no problems in that time until now!
Has anyone else experienced the same.
What should we do?

I have been having this problem for several months on both boxes (THOMSON). Sky have adived me to do the above checks and I have removed the card and checked all the cables, they suggest I pay for an engineer. I do not see why I should have to pay for an engineer when it is obvious a problem with Sky equipment.

@Corrine,
If you are a SKY subscriber and the equipment is over 12 months old, it is up to you to get the problem fixed. As BOTH boxes have a problem, I would suggest the problem is with your dish (may require re-alignment/new LNB) - although older Thomson/Grundig SKY boxes had bad power supplies which fail (usually with the loss of SOME channels, eventually giving a "No Sat signal being recieved" error message. these power supplies can be repaired (I've done a couple myself). Hope this is of some help.
