My Sky box has a "no signal message" - what do I do?
If you are getting the message "no signal" this would indicate that there is a problem with the signal from your dish into your box. Even without a card inserted into a Sky Digibox, if there is a signal, you will always get Sky Guide and the free channels.
Try powering off your box, remove the card, check carefully the cables, especially the connection to the dish, reapply the power and then when asked to insert your card you should then be able to see (for example) Sky News on 501 and the BBC News channel on 503.
Once you can see any channel, reinsert your card. This should, after about one minute, give you the channels you expect, such as 103, 104 and 105.
There are three ways you can attempt to reset your box. Please see
What can my do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' ?.
If you continue to get "No signal", you dish may have been misaligned, or there may be a fault with the cables and connectors, or a problem with the Digibox. You can see the signal strength by pressing SERVICES, then 4-SYSTEM SETUP and 6-SIGNAL STRENGTH.

I have two Sky boxes. One Sky+ and 1 normal Sky box. Regular as clockwork, when my Ecomomy 7 comes on at 1:00am during summer and 12:00 during winter, my normal box picture goes pixillated and gives me either "technical fault etc" or "no satellite signal received" after 30/40 mins it returns to normal. Have phoned Sky who say I need a new box at £65...is there another solution? I have done unplug, download new software etc but to no avail

Andrew Baron: If your Sky+ box does not show any adverse effects to this event in the same way as does your standard box then its likely because that either (1) its mains filtering arrangements are a little more advanced over that in the standard box, or alternatively (2) that because of it being a newer device its power supplies electrolytic storage capacitors are still maintaining their capacity, as in most standard older boxes they aren't!
If "for a test" you can get hold of one of these 13 amp 4 way (or more) mains socket strips with in built filters / suppressors such as used by desk station PC's etc then thats worth a try.
However I do have to emphasise that there is no guarantee that this will cure the problem because there is an element of hit and miss about how to remedy this type of difficulty, and economy 7 systems operate differently across the country and this brings other variables into the equation.
Standard Sky boxes are obtainable for relatively low prices from numerous sources, and so it might be best trying to pick one of these up, but once again no guarantees can be given as should one be purchased it "might" be just as bad as the one you already have.
Just out of curiosity, when your economy 7 comes on does this also switch on storage heaters or some other devices that operates on a second circuit? or does your system just switch meters?

For the past few evenings, my Sky Digibox works for a couple of hours, but then No Signal appears intermittently - sometimes TV off an hour or more. Sadly, was working when engineer called, so he says probably the ageing Digibox. I have since followed your system reset advice. Signal strength is around 50%, quality around 65% - obviously disappearing when No Signal notice. Could dish need nudging or do I need a new box? Help!

Rob G: Although a Sky box might work with a signal of around 50% or so its not really high enough to guarantee reliable reception, and this could well be the cause of your intermittent problem.
The lowest signal strength level that's acceptable is 60% although readings of around 75% is the average, and with the quality being either level pegging with the strength or preferable leading.
Its really the case of your dish requiring a minor trim and with this usually always being in the horizontal plane, and so a crude method or curing being to give the left or right hand side of the dish a slight nudge, this ideally being done if the TV can be viewed on its signal check screen whilst this is being carried out.
I will admit that Sky boxes, and especially if a few years old, can suffer from intermittent "no signal" problems caused by a faulty power unit, but what you have reported suggests that the dish is the cause of your problem.
