No. You cannot receive signals from UK Freeview transmitters abroad. You box will be able to receive local "DVB-T" transmittions, if there are any.

You can use satellite equipment pointing at the Astra 2D satellite from some European countries however to get around 100 UK free-to-air channels.

Hi Briantist

I am actually reading few post in this site and I am not sure to understand if the sky boxes that I have would be able to work in France or not.

When I called sky I been told that wouldn't work because they won't be able to pick up the signal ??

Could I use them somehow to get uk channels?

Please get back to me asap as someone is interested to buy one of the box but to be honest if they work I would rather keep them.

Thanks a lot!

Hey Brian

Thank you for your answer :)

What do you actually mean when you say that a dish needs pointing at the correct satelillites?

Could be any dish?

Thanks

Angelo: The box will work anywhere within the satellite footprints, but the dish needs to be pointing at the 28.2 degrees east satellite cluster of Eurobird 1, Astra 2A, Astra 2B and Astra 2D.

Sky are lying to you, it is simply contractually bound not to use the subscription cards outside the UK and ROI.

Hi Briant

I don't have a sky card.

As I said i have 1 Sky hd box that doesn't need a card to work, and 1 box but no card.

If someone wants to buy one of this boxes if I understood they just need a dish right?

It would be difficult to get a signal if they buy a dish but they don't know how to point it in the right direction?

Angelo: Well, yes, all satellite dishes require careful installation.

Damian lyons: It isn't the box that matters, but the size of the dish you have in Fuerteventura. I would say that Freesat boxes do tend to be less bulky.

We are going to live in rural France for 6 months. Will be taking sky box and card and having dish installed. We are having satellite Broadband. My question is, does it make any difference if we take an HD ready TV or Full HD TV to work with the system? Many thanks.
