Can I use my digital freeview box abroad and receive English channals?
No. You cannot receive signals from UK Freeview transmitters abroad. You box will be able to receive local "DVB-T" transmittions, if there are any.
You can use satellite equipment pointing at the Astra 2D satellite from some European countries however to get around 100 UK free-to-air channels.

Thanks Anthony. But my building will not allow a larger dish. I already have
a 120 dish. Would paying for Sky Europe service work? I read that sometimes
it doesn't. I really only want BBC1,2 ITV Ch4 Ch5 and free view. With that
I would be happy.
If I bring a UK free box instead of my current one, would that help.? Or
subscription only with Sky?
Cheers.

Oh just saw your comments Mike. Thank you.
So does that mean a Sky Europe subscription? I would be happy to do
that now as less complicated but does it actually work getting the
primary British stations in Innsbruck??
Thanks,
Christine

Anthony:
The alignment is not to set the azimuth to 28.2 degrees east but to set it at the correct angle for you particular location so it points at the orbital position of 28.2 degrees east.
For a fuller explanation see Azimuth, elevation and skew There are several websites that offer to calculathe the correct azimuth, elevation and skew for the location.
Where I live, Wiltshire, the azimuth is around 35 degrees east!

C Kennedy: I put out a reply for you but it seems to have got lost. Satellite is the ONLY way you will see the channels you want in Innsbruck and now they are on a very tight beam for the UK you will need a dish maybe as big as 2m as the detail for this is lacking on SES-Astra's specifications. A Freeview receiver will only pick up the local ORF channels from the Patscherkofel UHF transmitter near Innsbruck. A Sky europe subscription will not get you your wanted channels. They are free so any satellite receiver will do. It's all in the dish. Is there not a cable service that 'pirates' the UK signals.

I'm in Burgundy in France and have recently moved house and wanted to install english tv in the new house. We have been using our old sky box and dish from the uk at our previous french address for 10 years without a problem. The new house is in a town and the roof height was too high for my so a local fitter came out his morning, put up a new dish and now the box won't work. On his receiver thingy he is able to connect to dozens of channels but the skybox won't. The box was working an hour before at the old address but now says 'no signal' I have tried unplugging and resetting but nothing is working. Any help is appreciated

Sally six: Assuming your dish is 60cm or larger. Burgundy appears to have adequate coverage by the new tight beams from the satellites at 28.2deg.east so I should get him back to prove he has pointed the dish at those satellites and no others. If the dish is correctly setup then depending on the channels you want, you'll have to get the receiver replaced. If you need/want the Sky UK pay channels, that may be a problem.

Mr Vlad
You will not get UK Freeview services in Latvia, it's far too far away from the UK transmitters.
If Latvia has a Digital Terrestrial TV broadcasting service using the DVB-T or DVB-T2 systems then you may get some local Latvian programmes, but they will not be Freeview as that is UK only.

Hi, we have a house in Bavaria, Germany and also in the UK. We have a UK Sky subscription but when we are in Germany we really miss UK TV. Our TV in Bavaria has Freesat installed. My question is, ideally we would like to receive Sky TV but any UK TV would be most welcome. Is there any way to do this
