To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:

Try this:

1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;

2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;

3) wait 30 seconds;

4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;

5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;

6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;

7) do a complete scan for channels again.

The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Hi all
I also have the same problem as Jo Kaye. I have a Bush set top box, has anyone any ideas as to why the set top box isn't holding the channels??? and once the message is on the screen (auto retune request)you cant do anything with it unless you retune!!!!!even after retuning and being able to watch a programme for 3 mins the message appears again..... I have done all of the restore to factory settings, take out the ariel, unplug from the mains.....ect ect !!! could it be the box it's self...

4th April 2012 RH12 3RY Wideband high gain roof aerial. Crystal Palace transmitter.

Same problem as Lisa and Jo Kaye.
Bought 4 Goodmans set top boxes (GD11FVZS1) yesterday.
All request auto retune after following 'first time installation'
instructions - unplug aerial,switch off etc etc.

Same problem as Jo and Lisa. I have a Bush set top BU11FVZS2. After several retunes and 1st time instalations the Auto retune request keeps appearing and will not not accept EXIT to remove itself from screen. Is there any chance Argos (who appear to own BUSH) will update the software to get rid of this or will it disappear by itself tomorrow?

jo kaye: See Digital Region Overlap. It's probably picking up Dover and/or Bluebell Hill as well as Crystal Palace.

Postcode CO2 8RS, Sudbury transmitter, Wideband aerial fitted last December. Everything working well until about 11:15 last Sunday morning when suddenly lost ITV4. Many re-tunes drew a blank. The TV managed to catch Ch.15 and 24 once on Monday evening but since get 'no-signal'. Hard drive recorder can't even find them to give me the no-signal message. I think the TV just got lucky and found Ch.24 during a spike. Is anyone else aware of this problem, what caused it and is it permanent? Thanks

Same problem as Bush owners above, continually retuning and doesn't let you cancel menu.

Ok if you want to watch TV in 3 minute bursts!!

Going back to Argos in the morning if still there.

Post Code RM3 0BV, Roof
