My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound o
To deal with the problem you must clear the channel list completely and then rescan - if your box has it in the menus, please the 'installation menu' to do an initial scan or a reset to factory settings or First Time Installation. You MUST delete the entire existing list of channels. On most boxes this technique can be also be used:
Try this:
1) unplug your Freeview box (or idTV) from the mains;
2) unplug the aerial from the Freeview box by disconnecting the cable from the 'RF in' socket;
3) wait 30 seconds;
4) plug Freeview box (or idTV) mains back in;
5) do a complete scan for channels - it will fail without the aerial. (This may be in the installation or initialization menu, and is distinct from any 'add channels option'). Once this is done your channel line up should be empty;
6) reinsert aerial by reconnecting to the 'RF in' connection;
7) do a complete scan for channels again.
The Freeview channel line-up provided by six "multiplexes" - each of which carry five or more TV channels, radio channels, text services and EPG data. In this diagram each ROW represents a multiplex. If you are still missing a whole multiplex (ie everything on the row) you may need to replace your aerial with a wideband type, purchase a larger aerial or you may have interference from a VCR, games console, Sky Digibox or similar.

Hi, Any advice on this problem. Live in B'ham 13 and having problems with channel 44 (ITV1, C4 etc). Our freebox indicates signal strength varies from around 30% to 90% and when it's low, it can't find the channels. Our TV with built in Freeview has occasional picture break up on these channels. I rescan the box occasionally to see if it's working; it's fine today, but hasn't been since about 12th Jan. It was fine on Boxing day, but hadn't been working since around Aug/Sept. Have noticed that there appears to be a correlation between the weak signal and school holidays, so next week will be interesting. Read all the guides and can't see anything. Any ideas?

Thanks for your reply Briantist. Tried turning everything off but hasn't worked. The TV with the freeview box only has that box attached. Is it possible that the problem could be caused by neighbour's devices?

Mark: Not usually, unless you share an aerial system with them. Have you tried My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice ?

Hi Briantist,
I've tried this with no success. The problem is apparent on two separate systems, with one losing channels altogether. As far as I can deduce, there is a degradation in the signal (that appears to coincide with school term time(?)). I can't identify anything in the house that could be causing this.

Hi,
On a number of occasion I have had the "now and next" information on ITV, CH4 and CH5 sticking. So that, although the next programme had started, the now and next banner still stated the previous programme as being "now". This would then stick as the "now" programme for the next couple of hours. Resulting in later programmes not being recorded or, where a recording had started prior to now and next sticking, a recording to be made which over ran by 2 hours. My postcode is Sheffield S26, reception through Emley Moor

Bob: Have you done the procedure listed at the top of the page?

Thank you for your reply. No I had not, will try that next time this occurs. Although concerned that this may lead me to lose all my recording schedules.
While now and next is stuck, the EPG is fully populated. It just seems to be that it does not switch onto next programme.

Bob: You should keep your scheduled programmes, they are normally kept when you do it.
