Brian Duffy: Provided the analogue TV that you are feeding the Sky boxes RF output into doesn't receive anything else via its aerial socket then it doesn't really matter what channel you use for the RF, but most Sky box modulators give a slightly better output up in the 60's range, and in your case I would choose something from Ch64 upwards and see how you get on.

That said though, some Sky+ boxes modulators do give a weaker output and so you really have to do as you have already done, that is experiment until you get the best grain free picture by trying channels at each end of the scale. (21 - 68)

By the way the only way of getting over the grainy picture seen from some of these modulators is by using a mild booster amp on its output.

On TV upstairs I received same sky channel as on downstairs where the HD box etc is by RFchannel 68. This has now disappeared on upstairs TV since yesterday's retune. Can you tell me what to programme main TV RF to so I can continue to watch Sky upstairs

Valerie Rowe: On the assumption that its Crystal Palace you are receiving your signal from, then nothing that occurred there should have caused your Sky boxes RF output signal to have been blocked if its on the channel mentioned, but just to verify one way or another if they are responsible, then try another attempt to view Sky upstairs but only after you have removed the "normal" aerial connection into the Sky box.

Should it have returned, then leave it on and go downstairs and reconnect the aerial into the Sky box again then have a check to see if its still there or not, giving an update on results as well as your location. (pref: post code or one from very nearby)

Just to add, that if you do find its vanished then change the Sky boxes RF output to Ch66 and retune your upstairs TV (on analogue) to pick the altered channel up.

Hi
I have a new sky+ HD box downstairs. I have a booster box in the loft which feeds 4 tv's . Before we got digital here I used to feed the rf out from sky into the splitter and out to all tv sets. This meant what ever I watched on sky could also be viewed fine on each tv. Now we have digital I want to watch the sky plus freeview on all tellys. I have connected the digital arial into the sky box and tried changing the RF output to all different settings but can not get freeview on any of the tellys. I can still get the sky signal fine though.. I know the tv's all receive the digital chanel ok as I have connected the ariel into the splitter box input ignoring the sky and digital picture is fine but it seems that the sky box will not output the digital signal to the splitter box. I have connected the sky out direct to a tv and still nothing so I know the splitter is not affecting anything. My local transmitter is a booster station at Erogie picking up signals from rosemarkie. Any advise very gratefully received

I have a second tv upstairs receiving the sky signal from the RF output on my sky HD box. I have the RF power turned on and receive the sky picture fine. However I want to run a magic eye to change the channels. I make use of the aerial wall sockets to keep things tidy but these are isolated sockets and not allowing any voltage to be carried. I know you can change these sockets to non isolated but is this safe?

Q: Basically yes! as these type of sockets are generally used in installations in flats or whatever where if any device connected into the socket developed the type of fault whereby the chassis became live the voltage would be blocked from passing along the coax back to the distribution amplifier, or even just into another flat should the coax be linked from one socket to the other.

So if the aerial system is dedicated to only your own residence then go ahead and change th

Like a lot of people I've extended the RF2 output of my sky box to other TV's. My question is, when these TV's need replacing, how can I connect a new TV which only has a digital tuner to the sky box?

NOT, I should think!

Are there yet TVs with no analogue tuner?

Same problem if you use a local rebroadcaster I suppose.
