How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.

Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan

  1. Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.

  2. Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.

  3. Check cables and connectors are in good order.
  4. Wait for at least 30 seconds.
  5. With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
  6. Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
  7. Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
  8. Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
  9. Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB

If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.
  1. Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]

On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]

Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu".

  2. Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
  3. Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
  4. Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
  5. Press [SKY].
  6. Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
  7. Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
  8. Press [SKY].

Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software

If there are still problems:

  1. Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
  2. Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
  3. Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message – this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.

  4. Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
  5. Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
  6. Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
  7. Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
  8. Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

After looking at the 'green' reception areas from the division transmitter
it is noticeable that the coastline of Carrickfetgus
Is not included in the division mountain mast. Many
programmes on HD and many from the 50's upwards do
not have a strong enough signal.
It states in the information on Google that an alternative signal mast needs
to be located. However it doesn't say how or where I should
find this. The change has removed nearly half our available
programmes and we are still paying the same tv licence.
Are we going to get a reduced licence because we can't get
The BBC HD programmes

Lizzymint: Your TV licence is a licence to receive TV broadcasts, it is not a subscription and does not entitle you to receive any particular channels. I assume you're talking about the Divis transmitter (there isn't one called Division that I'm aware of). If you provide a full postcode we can see what reception is predicted at your location and offer further advice.

Live in Bulgaria, have 1.5 meter Dish aimed at Sky but want out of Sky and subscribe to other streaming services. Can you recommend a suitable receiver like Satfi's Travel-Vision R7 - 80 Astra 2 EU Beam. Tnx H

I've swapped from a SkyQ box that stopped showing the free channels as I am unfortunately unable to pay my Bill's to an old sky plus HD box. I've tried all the fixes above and it still says it is not receiving a satellite signal. It received one yesterday on my Q box before they cut me off so how can this be?

Does anyone know of anything else I can do so I can watch TV on the hd plus box? Is it anything to do with having the old viewing card in there instead of the one from my Q box?

Emma Preston: SkyQ uses a different LNB (the receiver block on the end of the dish arm) which is not compatible with Sky+/HD or Freesat boxes (unless a hybrid LNB was installed). You will need to replace the LNB with either a standard universal or hybrid LNB to use your Sky+HD box. You'll need to return your SkyQ equipment if you are cancelling your subscription, as it is rented as part of your Sky contract and remains Sky's property.

We live in Cambridgeshire and have a Sky plus box on the main tv , three freeview tvs in bedrooms and a powered signal booster/splitter in the loft.
The freeview tvs work fine during the day but pixelate/ loose signal (Often Totally} from 1.30am until 6am in the morning when full signal returns suddenly.
Have checked that no household items come on or turn off during these times, also set the Sky box so it does not go into standby mode overnight with no improvement.
Totally puzzled, believe we use the Sandy Heath Transmitter, and betng flat fenland there are no hills in the way. Any suggestions?

Wendy Orrowe:

Have a look in your TV's Tuning Section and look for something that says Signal Test or similar, you may have to look at Manual tuning.
It should list all the UHF channels that the set is tuned to for each of the multiplexes and also give the signal as a number or % and also the quality as a number or %, if it doesn't give quality it may give BER.
Post each channel number and the signal & quality/BER.

Has this problem only been occurring this week? If so it's possibly because Sandy Heath has Planned Engineering with "Possible weak signal".

Hi, live in France and get Freesat via a communal dish. Just moved in and connected sky+ box via my new Phillips OLED TV - fab - but then got occasional 'no satellite signal being received messages, tried my Humax box in case the sky+box was faulty - same result. Did the whole disconnect and re-set and all good for about a week. Yesterday - it cut out and nothing I have done in the way of fixes is working - HELP, please. checked all the leads, checked the sat connector all good. We've been in lockdown for 12 days and desperately need to be able to fix this without an engineer!

Pat:

Can you not check somehow with your "neighbours" on the same communal system if they are having similar problems?
