Notes: this page is based on the figures in the BBC Full Financial Statements 2014/15, less the change of BBC Three from £114.2m TV to £20m online service. Full Financial Statements also shows the current number of governement-funded 'Over 75s' licences - 4,215,808 - giving the eventual shortfall of £613.4m. BBC Worldwide/BBC America profit of £109m to BBC 'PSB Group' and one-off £78.6m for 'lease reclassification' also not shown. The 'Reach' is the number of people tuning into the service each week, from BARB Viewing Summary and RAJAR Quarterly Listening.

Thanks for your 'thoughts'...

You are John Whittingdale and I claim my five pounds!

Brianist: On a serious not, any coverage of whats going to be in the White paper and the possible reaction to it? I though Ian Jack's Guardian piece was pretty good, and more power to Gary Lineker!

Most of the TV on Freeview is OK. Need more programmes on Bebop Jazz. And Art History. And how to watch BCC1 News South West.

Said it before get rid of this two pressenter nonsense where each say a line then look down the ear of the one sitting next to them till its their turn again ! immediate saving on wages, plus will be much better way of doing it.

Lets also remember there are some excellent programmes on BBC tv

Why is so much money spent on bbc radio 3, who listens to this insecent drivel. If you want to listen to much better classical music there is classic fm. The bbc knows if it relied on advertising, no one would pay to put adverts on there because hardly anyone watches it.

Hi, John. Did you mean to give your opinion of BBC Radio 3 as 'incessant drivel', rather than 'insecent drivel'? I agree that Classic FM broadcasts 'easier listening': I didn't realise that BBC R3 has 'talking pieces' in-between the music pieces until I just switched one of my radios on to the station! Incidentally, we 'listen to' radio stations rather than 'watch them' unless you enjoy watching the display screen on your DAB radio, that is! Richard, Norwich.

Classic FM's playlist tends towards the 'Worlds Greatest Classical CD', which is fine for a while, but challenging its not, and its film music tends to be a bit from John Barry (I'm a huge Barry fan, but there are only so many times you can hear 'Out of Africa'), the really boring Howard Shore music from one of the Rings films (they tend to blend into one), and Ladies in Lavender.

R3 isn't easy listening, but there is a lot of good stuff you just wont hear on Classic FM, even though its (small) audience complains of 'dumbing down'. And there is no way that Classic FM would cover the Proms - far too obscure.
