Milkshake programmes for children aged 7 and under are no longer broadcast on this channel because of this reduction, but Milkshake continues to broadcast on Channel 5.7 On 18 January 2012, 5 received its highest-ever rating for the channel since it launched in 2006. 5 began broadcasting Live from the House, the one hour live feed for Big Brother that airs after every eviction. - en.wikipedia.org en.wikipedia.org link icon read more about 5STAR +1 on wikipedia (summary by Clipped).

5 Star +1 has dreadful reception - below 20/100 and red (Sony)

But 5 Star (not +1) is 100 and green.

How can this be ?

I'm East South East of the Crystal Palace transmitter.

Jules:

The channels are on two different multiplexes. 5Star is on the SDN/COM4 multiplex and 5Star+1 in on the COM8 multiplex. See Channel listings | Freeview
The COMs 7&8 mutliplexes are generally at somewhat lower power than the other COM multiplexes and even those are lower power than the PSBs on some transmitters.

It's quite likely that your reception of the COMs7&8 multiplexes may be a bit marginal compared to the PSBs & COMs4-6, but without a full postcode it's not possible to confirm that as the Freeview Detailed Coverage Checker doesn't work on locations or partial postcodes.

Thanks Chris.

I've looked on the Freeview site, but cannot find a 'detailed coverage checker'.
All I get is a matrix of logos for available channels - incl 5Star+1.
Info about Frequencies I've got from sites like this one.

Is there a site for Signal checking (full postcode) by Channel ?
Thanks

Jules:

It's not obvious to find! Go to Freeview | All your favourite TV shows, all in one place and all for free & scroll down a bit to "Check Freeview at my home" Enter postcode and house name/number. Scroll down past all the Logos/Icons for channels (about 3/4 down page) and click on "Detailed view" button.
Look at entries for your chosen transmitter. Hovering over channel numbers will give a pop-up with additional information.

Halima Cassim:

Does the upstairs TV get channel/LCN 56? These two are on the COMs 7&8 multiplexes, do you get any of the other channels on those multiplexes? see Channel listings | Freeview
We are going to need a full postcode to look at the predicted reception at your location.
