whoops - Freeview channel 81 now seems to have dropped out altogether, described as an invalid channel.

MikeB: Can there not be a more compatable wavelength, to change the signal to, to enable channel 81, to be as easily accessable, as the rest of the freeview line up.? " More viewers, more advertising potential. Everybody Happy.

It's frustrating that I get such a poor signal for Talking Pictures, even with a roof aerial and a booster, as I love the channel's programmes. Currently, I cannot get Freeview 81 at all, as the Auto Tune has not picked it up, due to the poor signal, but even when the Auto Tune does register channel 81 the signal isn't always good enough to display the programme. Can something be done about this ?

Phil Naldrett: Knowledge of a persons location is essential with queries of this nature, this preferably given as a post code or one from nearby, e.g: a shop incl post office, as this would enable access to info on the COM7 HD transmitter that covers your area, as well as the signal level expected from same.

I cannot receive channel 81 - talking pictures - on my tv.
My post code is PE22 8EE.
Have tried manual tuning, using a roof aerial. What can I do to overcome this problem? It's very frustrating.
Regards,
Brian.

Brian Lark: Are you able to receive BBC 1 HD on channel 101? Although Talking Pictures is an SD channel it is broadcast on a HD multiplex so you will need a tuner capable of receiving HD channels in order to watch.

We are also seeing issues with Talking Pictures (Channel 81) on Humax digiboxes (one a Youview DTR T2100) box and the other a new Freeview Play FVP-400T box)

The odd thing is that one is mine and the other my mother's at different locations- CB10 2TL and CM22 7JJ. Mine is on Sandy Heath and hers on Crystal Palace. We each have a Samsung Smart TV with DVB-T2 tuners daisy chained off the digiboxes, and both TVs CAN receive Talking Pictures. However neither Humax box can, and manual tuning does not find the channel. The Humax boxes do receive all other COM7 channels.

Does this suggest an issue with the inbuilt tuners in the Humax boxes?

Hi,my friend could receive Talking pictures tv on a Sky digital box in Wakefield West Yorkshire. Then suddenly it just froze and the signal seems to be inferior. Other selected channels are the same,so that would indicate that the transmission is at fault, rather than the Sky box.Any ideas what the problem is? Thank you.

Ken Senior: If there was a fault with a broadcast satellite it would affect all viewers of those channels across the whole country. Something is either damaged or faulty with their the cable (water could have gotten in somewhere), LNB receiver on the dish or possibly the box. Unplug the Sky box at the mains, then unscrew the connections on the back of the Sky box and check there are no loose strands of the outer braid touching the inner connector at the end of the cable. Then check along the cable back towards the dish and the connectors on the dish itself if you can safely access it.
