Chris Cottrell: Check previous questions and answers about this channel.

Your transmitter has to carry it - if it doesn't, you can't watch it.

Chris Cottrell: Bluebell Hill, the station that covers the Maidstone area is not fitted with a "Local" multiplex as used by True Christmas (74).

I bought my mum a new tv for Christmas. A Samsung freeviewHD . Her old one was a bush Freeview. The new tv is in same spot with same external aerial as the old one. Yet while the old Bush one has channel 74 the new one will not receive it. Yes it has the few extra channels offered with the freeviewHD receiver but it won't get True Christmas. Can anyone explain this? Same aerial sameposition in house....its freaky and annoying!

Nick:

Different makes of TV, or even different models, have tuners which differ in performance and sensitivity. It may well be that the new TV has a less sensitive tuner than the 'old' one.

The other point is that although you appear to have received channel 74 before, you may not be in an area served by a transmitter that provides such. The only way to tell is by you giving a full post code of your Mum's location.
