jb38: As we live in Dorset and not far from the coast, snow is not (usually) a major problem for us but it would seem that there would be a market for some sort of heating device in colder parts.

Pity we will lose the occasional BBC4 programmes now shown on BBCHD - as often they merit HD.

Briantist: I am a bit of an obsessive "recorder of things" and one of the things I analyse is our TV viewing. I used to do it by programme but that was an overwhelming task but I do do it for each day by hours viewed of each channel and whether it was live or recorded. From this I see that for 2012, 62% of BBC viewing was HD.

Briantist: Yes, 62% of the BBC viewing (all channels) done by our household - myself and Mrs Hill was in HD, either live or recorded. I have many other statistics if they would be of any interest.

Briantist: I record our viewing to evaluate numerically what WE watch - it will be (I'm sure) significantly different from the BARB figures!

AncientFootsteps: While I agree with the general point you make about losing BBC4 output from HD - a point I made in an earlier post - I suspect that you haven't viewed much of BBC Alba's output. Stumbling across some programmes originally, we now find several of interest and we are definitely not Scottish. For example, yesterday there was a fascinating programme on Harry Ferguson (of tractor fame) and the struggles he had with Henry Ford to get him interested in his groundbreaking developments; the day before there was an interesting interview with renowned Scottish actor, Bill Paterson. There are also regular programmes featuring the Scottish landscape with stunning helicopter shots. These programmes are in Gaelic but with English sub-titles. We now, somewhat surprisingly I have to admit, search out these Alba gems. A bonus is that they are presented in a straightforward way without the superficial triviality, crassness and "dumbing-down" style of much mainstream programming. I have to admit that I originally regarded BBC Alba in the way you do but have since greatly revised my opinion. Give Alba a go - you might be surprised, as we were.

I like the information you provide but am still not clear how I get at it! I receive your emails on certain topics and sometimes (like now) post a comment but afterwards I can't see a way to access these topics (and my comments). I the way is there, it can't be obvious or, surely, I would have found it. I would also like to see a list of all the topics I have commented on and hence see all my posts.
Also, occasionally, I make a post and when that topic comes up in your email, the post is not there.
So, what I am saying is that I (personally) would like to have the access to the topics/posts more clearly shown so that I can keep track of the items that I am interested in.

Thanks

Briantist: Just one other thing, perhaps. The other day I was looking for a list of all the questions/email topics (not just the top questions) and I found an A-Z (I think it was A-Z) listing of them all but I don't know how I got there.

Perhaps a direct menu heading as a link would be useful - to me anyway!
