SBlue - You can't watch Freeview from the on board tuner in your TV as it's designed to receive reception from UK transmitters. You might be able to receive "Freesat" in Switzerland, but would require to purchase a suitable receiver and this would require an appropriate sized satellite dish installed to your residence. I have a friend living in France, but close to Geneva, who can receive "Freesat" OK there, using a Humax DTR Satellite bos.

Wenbo - The only way you will get satisfactory reception in Warsaw, will be by installing a large 2.1 metre Satellite dish. Coupled to an FTA (free to air) receiver, Reception in Western Poland is a bit better and it's possible with a 1.5 - 1.8 metre.

Jonathan Davies - If you don't want to set up another dish then simply switch the quad LNB for an Octo LNB giving you a maximum of eight "out" ports. Using one for the TV would still give you 3 spare unused. If you had been starting from scratch I would have advised using a small domestic multi-switch (much more flexible set up), but that would be an expensive conversion now and the first option would be considerable less of an outlay.

Tim - My response won't directly help you on this one, but for you info, I have a Humax Foxsat HDR with CAM slot and it's certainly active on this receiver. Currently I have an AL-Jazeera Sports card in a VIACCESS CAM which allows the motorised capability of the receiver to take from my dish when on 13degrees South East with European Champions League, SPL, etc. I assume therefore that the CAM Slot an your Digital Terrestrial box will also be active. You can check this out if you can borrow a CAM

Connecting it all up | Installing

Mike - You should be able to connect OK as the Viewsonic has a DVI port. Your "Freeview" chosen receiver would need to have an HDMI out and you would also need a compatible HDMI?DVI Lead to connect both. Picture refresh rate may not be as good as a dedicated TV but should be acceptable. "Cabling4less" are excellent for a balance of Quality and Budget.

P>> You would also need a suitable audio lead making sure ports are there on both LCD and "Freeview" receiver to connect to.

Marie -There are ex-pat and local installers who advertise installations in the English language paper. Your parents should get someone that's reliable and has a good knowledge of what's required for the area.

BullyBriar8 - UK satellite TV reception in central Brittany should be possible with either a SKY freesat or FTA (free to air) receiver and suitable and correctly installed satellite reception dish. Given your acknowledged position as far as Technology is concerned, you would be best to get a local installer to set this up for you. There are some ex-pat fitters that also may be in the area that could advise/install and you could also check this out.

Don:- Is it not possible for you to get BBC World News in Cyprus? Not quite the same as BBC News as here in the UK but there is similar content and similcast broadcasts across both where there are major breaking news features.

Don - Downside is you will have to accept some advertising on this channel, but fortunately not on the scale of the commercial broadcasters.
