k: Your location indicates that the Findon "Relay" transmitter serves your area. This is likely however to provide a more limited range of available channels. However you seem also to be on the fringes of transmissions from the "main" transmitter at Whitehack Hill. If your contract TV service is with SKY and to avoid/minimize cost you could consider either a change of contract to non-subscription bearing in mind that if you have a receiver with recording capabilities that this aspect will be disabled. The main reception capabilities will otherwise be unaffected with the exception of the subscription channels. -

Amy - No one has the right to attach a satellite dish or for that matter any other structure to your property without your express consent. Speak to your Solicitor or local Citizens Advice Bureau.

Briantist: BT Sport - SKY Platform
. Anyone know if an FSFS card for those qualifying with a BT Broadband full package will be able to access these transmissions??

Briantist:trevorjharris: The landscape may well of course change with BT moving into the media broadcasting market and as the continuing roll out of high speed broadband is established. Satellite TV in particular and Terrestrial TV on these respective delivery platforms will face a formidable new player(s). Thus hopefully this will see a more competative and affordable package pricing regime.

Briantist: This at last Puts this outrageous anomaly to bed! It's staggering that the majority of the Licence fee paying public having been in effect contributing - many unwittingly - to BSKYB' aka News International's enormous profits. Hopefully this will now allow the PSB's to put this money into their programming.

Nedbod: I think this goes right back to the Thatcher government and as Brian points out includes all the Public Service Broadcasters. It's ironic though that all the incoming administrations following did "bugger" all about it until mow - continuing to "sweet talk" to Murdoch. This probably wouldn't have been put to right but for the press ourages (mainly but not exclusively the Murdoch Press sll thr hurt caused to innocent people and that very costly enquiry.

I think as licence payers this arrangement was at best misapproriation of our hard earned cash and at worst fraudulent.

trevorjharris: The amount of PSB programs is now minimal and certainly the quality is pretty poor. It seems that it is moving towards pay tv channels subsidising the PSB channels. Having read and digested the "Report" it doesn't seem the reports conclusion's would share in your views of the Public Service Broadcasters contribution to Broadcasting.

Briantist: - David, Yes and I remember watching a superb piece of investigatve TV journalism that highlighted the flooding of the market with Ondigital Viewung cards at knockdown prices and that was the downfall. for ITV. That investigation saw a trail from the UK leading to Israel and company involved in the production of encryption/decryption systems for the TV industry. There was evidence that would have suggested arms length linking to a company within the Murdock stable producing the NDS encryption/decryption card access system. Whilst difficult for the investigative journalist to nail this definitvely,It would't have taken anyone with a measured amount of grey matter between the ears to work out what saw the demise of Ondigital. Smatterings of "phone hacking" etc etc.

Upgrading from Sky to Freesat | Freesat
Friday 2 August 2013 8:37AM

Bill Fairley - Just in case Mark doesn't pick your post up - The Humax receiver is probably the best to go for in a "Freesat" box. You won't however get ESPN America, which is a subscription channel. As far as reception in Germany is concerned you will need to check the size of dish required as Satellites now employ spot beam transmissions focused on the UK - meaning that you may, dependent on where you are in Germay, see the reuirment for a 90cm or 1 meter dish.
