Hi Briantist, there isn't a mush zone created in a DAB SFN! The neighbouring transmission sites in a DAB network do not have their radiation patterns changed when a new site comes on.

Hi Brian,
I like your postcode feature, but I dislike the way the site then makes it public for all to see. That's why I have made posts with more than one email address, this one doesn't reveal the street I live in to the outside world. It would be nice to have some kind of privacy setting!

...ah I see. My follow up post and the posts that other people who lept to my defence regarding SFNs must have been sucked up by the SPAM system?
Anyway... I managed a DAB multiplex network for four years, so I DO know a bit about how DAB SFNs work!
I can tell you that when a new TX is turned on, the others in the SFN are not adjusted. As long as the DAB transmitters are all sync'd by GPS, then it is just a case of turning a new site on and leaving the rest alone.
On rare occasions it may be the case that a particular location in a TX area may receive a signal from a local site, and another over 74km away - in this case the GPS timings would be tweaked rather than radiating patterns.
Otherwise, a DAB receiver is perfectly capable of receiving the same multiplex from more than one transmitter.

Just a couple of observations....
You've sourced the data from Ofcom's TX parameters?
If so, it will probably be better to be quoting the in-use ERP (in KW) rather than difference in directional ERP (in W), because the in-use ERP better reflects actual coverage on the ground.
The other thing, is a word of caution regarding stations. Some can appear before they go on-air, and it is also possible for some to remain there even when no longer licenced by Ofcom (such as KARD on South Hampshire). It is probably worth keeping tabs on Ofcom's monthly radio update mailing list, which is usually sent the first Tuesday of every month to see what is/isn't licenced.

Some fantastic work!
The TX Params depend on the multiplex operators keeping Ofcom up to date with station/multiplex names. Obviously, whilst I was good at this, not all other multiplex operators are, which is why 'X F M' still appears!

Briantist, DAB can have multiple transmitters covering the same area - that's the whole point of it being an SFN.
As long as the transmitters are all synchronised by GPS then all is well.
