How might a 10,000 pound a week local TV channel work? | Local

I haven't got Virgin but believe that they have a channel 100.
100 = On Demand Previews

They could show 5* or 5USA or ITV3 or Film4 etc when not transmitting the local news.
This would be a good idea for the Channel 5 group, as they don't have local news and only Channel 5 in many areas.

Steve P:
The website has some transmitters missing.
Here is the postcode for the Haywards Heath transmitter, but H.H. is not listed!

I have tried with a number of different Haywards Heath postcodes. (RH16 2PL, RH16 3PQ, RH16 1LT, RH16 ...)

It also lists Crystal Palace with all Haywards Heath postcodes. But Crystal Palace and even Heathfield only cover parts of the area. (RH163LB)

Sometimes I wish there was a 'delete' option with my messages when I make a speleng mistake.
But then I would be lying about how good my spelling was.

Will there ever be more services on the Freeview Light transmit

A two tear TV service, deserves a two tear TV licence fee level.
There is no way to check if some viewers are getting the full service or a particle one.
So channels that are not available from all transmitters should be subscription channels.
The whole subscription should be put aside to improve the network and NOT paid to the TV channel owners.
Also a large yearly fee should be paid to the Government from the com channel to improve the network.

Channels on the national network should be free from the subscription and Government fee.

If we did this it would not be long before the channels on the com multiplexes wanted their network increased to the whole nation.

I may be lucky if a new local TV station starts from Haywards Heath.
But will it be transmitted from the Haywards Heath relay or will it be from Heathfield.
If its transmitted from Heathfield then the Haywards Heath channel will not be available to many people in Haywards Heath.

If it's ITV3, ITV4 or Film4
that would be good news as it would become a national channel available from all transmitters.
Film4 would be my best out of the three, but is not a 24 hour channel.

Very good
except the 'BBC one' icon looks like the transmitter has a fault icon when hidden behind a neighboring transmitter.
So you will need to ask the BBC to change the colour of their BBC one logo.

... or use the BBC two icon that is not the same colour as the 'transmitter has a has a fault' icon.

Sorry this has nothing to do with TV.
This is for any one who lives in the Channel Islands.

I was wondering what map system you use in the Channel Islands.
I know you don't use the British Ordnance Survey grid system.
Wikipedia say that you use the UTC (Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate system)
Ordnance Survey National Grid - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That would put you near the bottom of square U30, but all references on this site put you in square XD.
DMAP: UTM Grid Zones of the World

I an looking for the formula to convert a grid reference, (EG. XD920195)
into the latitude/longitude values. (EG. 49.1873, -2.10345) (RH163LB)

Thank you for the code.
I think it's the OSi code for Ireland and not the Channel Islands.

As all the Channel Islands are within one square, I'll try and workout the corner of the square TX...... and the scale.
Then the code will be:
TX bottom corner latitude - (xxx * scale) // Minus as west of Greenwich.
TX bottom corner longitude + (yyy * scale)

For ref TXxxxyyy

As they are near to France they may use the French system.
