Ian Young: Winterbourne Strickland is a Light transmitter, and will always be so. Its never had 70 channels, never been advertised as such, and never will - advertisers dont care enough about you, and hence the commercial channels dont want to broadcast to you.

If you'd checked, you would have probably gone for Freesat instead.

peter duthie: we need signal levels and location, but look at your cables - if your losing a mux or two, then its likely there is a loose connection etc.

DONALD KIRKBRIDE: Since you got it for fifteen quid, I suspect its an old model. Thats still a good deal, but I suspect that the tuner is an early one, and may have a problem - but check it actually tuned into the transmitter you want.

In any case, a cheap freeview box will do the same thing with no hassle. If it has an HDMI socket, then you could use a Manhattan HD box.

BTW - Freeview can't be picked up on 'a Sky mini-dish', so I suspect the problem lay elsewhere.

Firstly, I think you need to make sure only the website gets your email address - we certainly dont?

Ok - check actual signal strength and what transmitter your tuned into. It could be your on the wrong one. If the signal is too high (and your just 22km from Crystal Palace), that can look much the same as too low. See 'too much of a good thing' on this website.

And check the signal path back - a lose connection or frayed cable can really cause problems, as I found out today when trying to get the cats cradle of a system in the loft of my new house to work after the electrician had been!

Neil Smith - firstly, we need a postcode - you can just put it into the website, but we have no idea as to what your signal should be like right now.

Next, check which transmitter your actually tuned into. And then check signal levels. By the sound of it they are all low, which makes sense if you have a problem with your system which comes and goes.

Then check your system. Start with the back of the TV and work your way to the aerial (its real fun in the loft!). Classic reason you have a problem - frayed or damaged connection/cable, lose connection or even water in a joint. Retuning doesn't help, it just makes things worst.

And hopefully you'll find the problem. If not, then its time to call in a professional.

Tim Austin: The TV is working fine - its telling you you have a problem with your aerial system, and if you look at your manual it will guide you to the most common problems. Classic problem is the cable at the back of the TV has become loose or come out. Check all your cables, and if still no joy, then you might need a professional.

Martin Rosen: I can't imagine Crystal Palace sending out a signal that would be weak in NW9!

Again, the most likely problem is the persons own system. People forget that their TV is connected to their aerial (which is itself just bits of metal constantly blasted by the weather) by a piece of cabling just 6mm wide, and has numerous joints, connections and push-together plugs. If just one fails, then thats the whole system. And if moisture gets in when it rains, but then dries out, you can get a problem that seemingly clears itself up, until next time.

Anne Clulee: If yout talking about a 'library', that sounds like a PVR, not a TV.

Talking Pictures TV

StevensOnln1: I was thinking exactly the same thing! If you have a DVD recorder, its almost certainly just got a SD tuner, not HD, hence its impossible to pick up Talking Pictures.
