No you can't. Sat. receivers each need an LNB, the signal should not be split, because the LNB might be blown. Maplin do sell a splitter type thing, but even they suggest you get a twin LNB instead.

David Fox: Your overthinking it....
Rowridge has no reported problems, so its not the transmitter. Nor is it one of your boxes, since they both have the same problem, which is that your missing (at the least) the PSB2 Mux.
Your TV is linked by a thin coax wire up to the aerial. Its subject to extremes of heat, mositure, wind, etc. And of course it degrades, like anything else. Its also possible that it was put in my someone who bodged the job, used the cheapest cable, etc.
It could be a frayed or loose wire, moisture or corrosion. If you've an amp, it could be a failing power supply. In one recent case, it turned out to be a dodgy fly lead.
Whatever it is, it will have nothing to do with the current, etc, but almost certainly everything to do with a simple break somewhere along the chain.

Minnie: A model/make of the TV would be useful, but basically, you should just be able to plug in the hdmi cable to connect the tv to the player, switch on the player, and off you go. Its sounds like you've got 3 HDMI ports, so I suggest the following:
You know HDMI 3 works, because your talk talk box is connected to it. Try swaping over the cables, so the talk talk goes into hdmi 2. If nothing works, you know its the hdmi port on the TV at fault (it happens, as someone the other day found out). If it works, then the port is fine.
Plug the DVD player into the port where the talk talk box was - you the port is fine, so if it doesn't work, then its the cable. Since you've tested them already in another TV, its probably the port.
Since you have 3 ports, wouldn't it be easier to use HDMI 1 for the talk talk, since you proably use that the most? Whatever is easiest to you, but even if one HDMI port is duff, you should be able to use the other two.

Steve: If the BBC channels are distorted, not lost, it sound like your signal is too high - certainly 100% strength is.

Vanessa: It sound exactly like moisture in the system. Since one tv is fine, the fault is on the other one, which at least means you can narrow the search for the problem.
Could you give us a postcode, because it would help to find out if your on the edge of the signal range. Personally, I think your fine - my parents live in Poole, so I know the area where you live, and its not only about the same distance, but your predicted to get a better signal from the transmitter than they are!

Harry Cooper: have a look for yourself - DAB is weak, but everything seems fine (nobody has reported a fault). BT has no idea what its talking about. However, BT supplies you with broadband and the box, other than that, its the TV signal you've got a problem with, which has nothing to do with BT.

Minnie: OK - if the port on the side isn't working, and you cant get to the others, then you'll have to try another way. How old is the TV? A model number would help work out whats on the side, but if you have a red/white yellow set of connections, those are rca's, which would mean the TV was 3 years old or more.
Having those connections accessable would be a be a great help to you. The Sumvison is not a brand I'm familiar with, but a quick look at Amazon suggests that it has a scart and an hdmi. Yes, hdmi is better, but since its a dvd player, its not the end of the world not to use it. A set of rca connections (the red/white/yellow plugs) can basically be attached to a scart connection, using something like this: Scart Adaptor with 3 Phono Sockets - Black: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics - you just need the cables as well, but they are also really cheap. In fact a pound shop might do them.
Its not as good as hdmi, but if the port isn't working, you have to use what you can.

Minnie: The DVD player is just that...a player. All you need is a HDMI lead, and follow the DVD's/ TV manual for connecting it up.
