Followed this thread with interest. I tried DAB and decided it was utter rubbish, I could only pick up a station if I was in the back of the house and then only reliably if I went upstairs. I wouldn't mind but I am not in a rural area so at the minute I'm sticking to FM. Its the same story as digital TV if you have a poor signal you get nothing, at least with FM you can still listen even if its through the hiss.

Your not going to get a great sound from a £40 radio

Really, you should listen to my 10 year old Sashio that cost £12.99 new It sounds fantastic

That's what's always worried me about "connected" appliances and smart TV's etc how do you install any protection?

Very true, I have a 65cm dish and the only time I ever lose the signal is when there is a strong thunder storm directly between the dish and the satellite, other than that its perfect, torrential rain, very heavy snow, not a problem.

I'm glad I don't rely on terrestrial, it looks like it will soon be dead in the water

Nothing will become the norm on the internet until fast reliable internet that doesn't buffer every 5 seconds and doesn't cost a fortune is available all over the country. Something that despite promises it yet to become a reality.

Yes buffering is still very much alive and well, making out Now TV unusable at times, just upgrading to Sky fiber to see if it makes any difference.

"wireless internet (as pointed out in the same session) is still a radio transmission and never immune from interruption"

So that means internet TV will be the death of the truly portable TV then. DTT certainly stabbed it in the back as most cant run with an indoor aerial.

I cant help but think this is just another idea to squeeze yet more money out of everyone. New equipment, internet charges, data charges etc.
