Freeview intermittent interference | Freeview InterferenceThursday 25 August 2011 3:04PM

Hi, I am in C05 7PT and aerial is pointing to the Sudbury transmitter. Before digital switchover we had all SD channels via freeview on a BT Vision Box (but no HD channels) after switchover we have all freeview SD channels but get interference on BBC1, BBC2, Channel 5 and others on the BT Vision Box. On the Samsung TV (which is connected to the same aerial point through the BT Vision Box) we have no interference on these channels. The BT Vision box shows the carrier frequency for BBC1, BBC2, Channel5 etc. as 658Mhz with 100% Signal Quality and 100% Signal Strength. The Samsung TV for BBC1, BBC2, Channel5 etc shows : Multiplex 44c (TSID 1047 ONID 233a) Network ID 3081.
I have tried turning off every electrical device in the house in case it is something interfering and removing any RF outputting devices (like the satellite decoder) and retuning the BT Vision Box but nothing seemed to make a difference.
Can anyone give me any advice as how I resolve the interference issues on the BT Vision box?

Briantist: No I do not have an amplifier or booster and I have tried the advice in the freeview intermitent intereference article with no success.

jb38: Thanks for the reply, I tried a set top aerial and leaving the coax to the tv disconnected but no success. The BT Vision box is grey/silver, is the black one a newer type?

jb38: I will give that a go, but how do I manually tune in Mux Ch49 on the BT Vision box the only option I can find is to scan for channels

Hmmm itv3 and QVC dont get the interference problems anyway so not sure how this is getting me any closer to the problem.

Briantist: Correction I have just discovered a Labgear MSA262/S Distribution Amplifier in the loft. I tried turning off the power to this unit but then I get no signal at all! So I am guessing, as only the BT Vision box has a problem, can I use a 2-Way UHF Splitter (like maplins JM13P) take the coax from the aerial as the input and run one output to the amplifier and connect the other output to the coax which goes to the BT Vision box? Or is there a better way?

jb38: I have tried an attenuator to reduce signal strength but inference did not seem to reduce/disappear. But i have discovered a labgear msa262 distribution amp in the loft near the aerial so is this likely to be what is causing all my bt vision problems?

jb38: Thanks I think you are right. I will contact BT and see what they can do for me. Thanks for your help.

Briantist: Yeah I know you said remove, it was just me thinking it was worth a try to power it off. I will get a connector tomorrow so I can bypass the amp and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for your help.

Hi, since the sudbury switchover my BT Vision box seems to be having problems, sound interference and lost blocks, seems to happen on various channels but particularly annoying on BBC2 and Channel 5. Aerial and cablishing is 5 years old in new house. The thing that seems odd to me is that the same freeview channels (bbc2 and Channel 5) are clear and good on my Samsung tv (aerial fed through the bt vision box!) this means if i watch live on the tv no problems but if i record on my bt vision box (or try to watch live on bt vision box) I get interference. Can anyone advise?
