Yes, it puts ? for pounds as well :o
I'm not an expert on transmission modes but I'm lead to believe when the mode is QSPK 8K 3/4 it's effective range can be upto 10x 64QAM 8K 3/4 for the same power (but of course it has very limited bandwidth in that mode) and you don't need as strong a signal to correct the errors. In other words you can have a tenth of the power but still have similar coverage!
256QAM is more vulnerable to errors, so with weaker signals you might not find it decodable, then of course there's the chance of co-channel interference which will increase errors, reducing the quality.

Have you got any binoculars or a telescope to see if you can make out the colour of the bung in the end of your aerial?

Nice bit of research there, I wish I was more into this sort of thing (and had time for it!).

Clubland TV

Billy:

Clubland TV (LCN82 in your EPG), along with 5 other channels - LCNs 61, 62, 87, 90, 208 are broadcast on a Manchester only multiplex G-MAN (sometimes called the GI mux in some Freeview/DUK documentation) currently transmitted on UHF channel C57 due to move with the final Winter Hill retune on the 22nd April to UHF channel C27 - not that this latter bit of information helps with your problem atm.
Local multiplexes are broadcast on a much lower power and in a specific direction and "polar" diagrams are sometimes provided to show the radiation pattern. I cannot find one for G-MAN but must assume that it's broadcast on a limited pattern towards Manchester. So if you don't live in the right area, reception may be intermittent or impossible.
If you want to provide a full postcode then we can use the Freeview Detailed Coverage Checker to see what the predicted reception at your location may be.

Map of all DAB transmitters

keith reynoldson:

You shouldn't have any problems getting the BBC National multiplex on 12B, or the Commercial multiplex on 11C which carries BBC Newcastle. These being transmitted from the Sunderland transmitter located near the Hendon Industrial Estate.
There is also Commercial services broadcast from this transmitter, you should be able to get these as well.

Winter Hill (Bolton, England) transmitter

Ken W:

AFAIK there's no way round that problem. The transmissions are not at all likely to start before the 22nd April as they have to use the same transmitters (retuned etc.) Duplicate transmissions for the PSB1/BBCA mux have only been done because of the significant change of the UHF channels from aerial Group C/D to Group A for the primary multiplexes. This is so people that have problems with UHF C32 have time to resolve aerial problems with Freeview 0808-100-0288 for help with free aerial replacement if they don't have Cable or Satellite.

Martin Lewis:

It depends exactly where you are in the ME10 area. Some parts have predicted Variable reception. However the BBC aren't reporting any transmitter problems for any of the HD multiplexes.
Are your neighbours have the same problems, is it the BBCB/PSB3 HD multiplex that is the problem?
If your neighbours have the same issue, try (all of you) reporting it to Freeview on 0808-100-0288 try option 3.
But also try BBC Engineering on 03709 016 789 or 0370-010-0123 (office hours otherwise you get a general helpline).

If all of you are not reporting it to the BBC on 03700-100-123 thne I can't say I'm surprised that there's no reported transmitter problem! Report it to the BBC first, you can try Freeview after as well, but I've often found they haven't much of a clue.

TONY FLETCHER:

Hmm, well done, I hope others have reported it as well as it's still not showing up on their website when I check for transmitter faults.

I don't suppose you can program it to power up and rescan after say 0900 on the 22nd when everything should be up and running ok by then? (I did say should!).
