Taxi radios or any transmitter with a strong enough signal (usually close by) could cause interference, although they ought not to if functioning correctly unless maybe they are right next to you. You'd be best trying to co-ordination the periods of interference with any visible signs of the taxi radios being used and if so then have a nice word with the operator and carry out a few test transmissions to confirm or otherwise.
Some taxis (and others) also use CB radios which can cause similar interference, worth checking out in a similar way.
Such interference should be only short bursts (consistent with say a two way conversation). If the interference is going on for long periods it maybe something else, especially if it's exactly at the same time each day.

Just a thought, you haven't got any boxes with RF outputs that might be causing interference to Ch.54? Easy to overlook sometimes!

As StevensOnln1 has inplied on the Hannington transmitter page, this is an independent "help" site not responsible for the transmitters or programmes.
As he went onto explain retuning is a bad idea when the problem is present. I would suggest that as you have retuned several times, the problem may be compounded by things not being correctly tuned and your set's memory may also be "confused". So when you normally have no issues during the week, then if you unplug your aerial and do a retune with it unplugged, this should clear the memory totally. Plug the aerial back in and do a retune again which should get all the correct channels.
To check that you are indeed tuned to the correct channels, enter you set's tuning menu and look for something such a signal checker/test option and check its tuned to UHF channels 45,42,39,40,43,46,55&56. That's for the multiplexes BBCA, D3&4, BBCB, COM4(SDN), COM5(ARQA), COM6)ARQB), COM7 & COM8 in that order - D3&4 being the one that carries most ITV channels.
As StevensOnln1went on to say this is most likely some form of interference that's only happening at a w/e.
Do you have any equipment that you only switch on at a weekend? A DVD/video recorder/Games Console etc. It's possible that such equipment may have an RF output that is interfering with UHF channel 42. Other electrical equipment may also cause interference but it would be unusual for it to only interfere with just one UHF channel. If you have equipment with RF outputs check they aren't tuned to UHF42 or channels below such as 37 or 31. If so I would retune them to channels somewhat above 56.
Do you perhaps have a near neighbour who is away during the week and has some equipment they switch on at the weekend. The same possible causes are possible.
Post back if you continue to have problems, listing the detailed checks you have done and any other useful information.

As you may be aware (you had a retune event summer last year) as part of the 700Mhz clearance, multiplexes are changing UHF channel. Part of this change involves COMs 7&8 becoming SFNs (Single frequency Networks) meaning Transmitters share the same uhf channel. Unfortunately this means some locations will be getting interference from one of them. It's also possible that this may vary due to weather conditions - there's a large High pressure system present at the moment which means some UHF signals can travel further than normal causing interference.
As you already know Sandy Heath is not the best transmitter but especially for COMs 7&8 at your location. Presumably you want Anglia region rather than Yorkshire. If you look at DigitalUK's coverage checker for your postcode Digital UK - Coverage checker (put your postcode in the box, ensure Detailed view is ticked & click Go - or click the link at the bottom of your posts - digitaluk trade) then you can see that it's also going to get worse later this year and early next year with further changes taking place around the country as well as some at Sandy Heath.
Belmont should give you the most reliable reception of all Muxes BUT this is Yorkshire region.
If you continue to want Anglia then Tacolneston may give you good coverage over all the multiplexes being predicted as only slightly worse on some (BBCA & D3&4) than Sandy Heath.
Changing transmitter will obviously require a shift in Aerial position and depending on whether you have a Group A or T/Wideband aerial may need an aerial change to Group T/Wideband.

Assuming you mistook 56 for 52, then it may be possible that the current HIgh pressure weather system is causing interference from other transmitters.
Also you may find this link Digital UK - Coverage checker useful. Put your postcode in the box, make sure Detailed view is ticked & press Go.

Strange how we interpret things differently MikeP.
Stephen hopps was complaining about the loss of reception of COMs 7&8 and Belmont will not be the best from that point of view after the end of this year !!
Waltham looks indeed as though it would be totally useless which is why I never mentioned it, whereas Tacolneston is predicted to give very similar reception to Sandy Heath for the other muxes BUT with more reliable reception of COMs 7&8 and it's still Anglia which I would guess is the preferred region.

Did you carry out a retune as I advised in my Friday 9.10pm post? Clear the existing tuning, then do a MANUAL tune using the Mendip UHF channels (mentioned again to Brian yesterday).
Current Mendip UHF channels 32, 54, 58, 48, 33, 52, 36, 35.
