Catherine Cramb:

The BBC are reporting a fault.
Whilst the BBC have reported fault details on their individual transmitter page, they have NOT (yet?) added it to a page which is an engineering list of Freeview faults which is where the updates to this site come from.

From 5:29:19pm on 26th Nov 2021 BBC A / BBCB HD Off the air due to a fault

No doubt due to a power outage as a result of the abysmal weather. I can't find any further updates at this time.

Statement from BBC Engineering -

Interruptions to television and radio services due to Storm Arwen

High winds and rain are causing problems with electricity supplies to several transmitters across the UK. Regional electricity suppliers are working hard to restore services. You can check the status of your local transmitter using our transmitter checker tool.

While you're waiting you could try BBC iPlayer or BBC Sounds to carry on watching or listening to your favourite programmes. They are both available on Smart televisions and many other internet connected devices.

Keep up with the latest weather in your area.

Keighley (Bradford, England) DAB transmitter

SarzWix:

I'm sure that the fact that there isn't a fault being reported on the DAB page for the Keighley transmitter is due to the volume of outages there are resulting from this abysmal weather.

FYI, the BBC Freeview transmitter pages are reporting a fault for both Keighley and Keighley Town transmitters
From 7:01:52pm on 27th Nov 2021 BBC A / BBCB HD Off the air due to a fault (both transmitters)

This is most likely due to a power outage affecting the feed to both transmitters or the transmitters directly.
Whilst the BBC have reported fault details on their individual Freeview transmitter pages, they have NOT (yet?) added it to a page which is an engineering list of Freeview (& usually DAB) faults which is where the updates to this site come from. I can find no further updates at present.

I'd go looking on Northern power grid's website where they'll have all the outages listed and approx times they hope it'll be restored. Postcode for transmitter is DL13 2TH.

Sam :

You should get very good reception there from the Crystal Palace transmitter, virtually due North of you.
Have a look outside and check that the aerial is still there, looks intact and pointing in the correct direction with its rods(or squashed Xs) horizontal.

Apart from checking all your own coax plugs and connections, if the aerial has been damaged by this recent bad weather or the situation does not improve then your really need to complain to the landlord. I assume that it is covered in the tenancy agreement!

Whilst you've posted on the Meldrum DAB transmitter page (there is no Freeview at this transmitter) which transmitter(s) you may be able to receive varies across the Oldmeldrum area. It is likely to be the Gartley Moor Relay or the Durris main transmitter. There are no reported problem with Durris, so your aerial is probably pointing at Gartley Moor.

The BBC are reporting a fault for Gartley Moor
From 5:24:35pm on 26th Nov 2021 BBC A / BBCB HD Off the air due to a fault

This is undoubtedly due to one of the very many power outages in the area, the weather has been so severe, there has been a lot of power cuts, some of which Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks are reporting they hope may be fixed by midday today (29th), some others not until 6pm and a number of others not until midday on the 30th.

The Meldrum transmitter seems to be currently unaffected and FM and DAB broadcasts should be on air. You should also be able to receive Radio 4 on LW and Five Live on MW from Burghead.

Karen Johnson:

There is nothing for us to sort.

1) This is an independent free helpsite for people with reception problems, we don't maintain the transmitters or the electricity network or National grid or control the weather.

2) You may have noticed from the post following yours that the BBC reported the "fault".
The "fault" was actually due to one of the many power outages cause by severe damage in many places as a result of Storm Arwen! Had you referred to Electricity NorthWest's website, you might have been aware of it!

3) Did you not experience any power outages yourself? If not, you were lucky because some others in your postcode did!

The BBC have reported several faults in the last few days since storm Arwen. The transmitter had been on Planned Engineerting last week, From 1:45:47pm to 2:04:54pm on 25th Nov 2021 BBC A/BBCB HD Off the air due to essential engineering.

Then two interruptions on the 27th - From 8:45:04am to 4:33:42pm on 27th Nov 2021 BBC A Off the air due to a fault, From 4:35:21pm to 4:38:37pm on 27th Nov 2021 BBC A Off the air due to a fault.
Then From 5:04:13pm on 28th Nov 2021 to 11:43:38am on 29th Nov 2021 BBC A Off the air due to a fault.
Now From 11:43:38am on 29th Nov 2021 BBC A Off the air due to essential engineering.

These most recent outages I suspect are due to storm damage currently being repaired (they don't provided details). Some transmitters have had power outages.

You can probably find out more about power outages in your area from Welcome to SP Energy Networks - SP Energy Networks but I note their website is being updated as I post.

I think actually it's a date error. Black Hill is listed this week as you can see from the post before mine, but it wasn't last week.
I've noticed before that these "Friday" ones are where the database (DUK) has been updated for the following week but the date doesn't get changed until Monday. It's annoying and got me confused ages back until I sussed out what was going on!
