Wenvoe (Cardiff, Wales) DAB transmitter

Michael Pearce:

You will have to ask the operators of Heart of Wales that question directly. This website is independent of all broadcasters. Whether a particular service is offered on a transmitter or transmitters is up to the broadcaster.

To advise we need you to post your full post code so that we can tell which transmitter you are near and hence which channels are not currently in use.

You should tell the broadcaster. This website is truly independent of all broadcasters and they will not see your comments here.

M Hodson:

Though no one else has reported any problems, as they would be expected to if the transmitter had serious sound problems, I would suggest you check all your aerial connections for damage and/or corrosion. If there are coaxial plugs/sockets unplug them and then refit. That will clear any corrosion/oxidation from the contact surfaces. Also check your signal strengths. they need to be between 60% and 85% - if it is much higher than you have too much signal. A full post code, as requested by the text above the entry box, will let us determine what the signal reception conditions are like at your locality.

With a signal strength of 10 you have too much signal and that will cause your reported problem, it needs to be between 60% and 85%. Fit an attenuator in the aerial feed behind the TV using an additional short flylead so that the weight of the attenuator does not 'hang' on the aerial input socket.

Please provide a full post code, as requested, so we can examine the expected signal reception conditions at your location and which of the over 1100 transmitters you might be using.

Meanwhile, please check all your aerial cables and connections. If there are coaxial plug/sockets then unplug and refit those to clear any possible corrosion/oxidation on the contacts.

Please provide a full post code, as requested, so we can examine the expected reception at your location.

There is no such thing as a 'digital' aerial as the encoding method used is not relevant to an aerial. Have you had a wideband aerial fitted? You need one for Freeview reception these days and it will serve you for many years.

Please provide a full post code, as requested, so that we can detwermine the reception conditions at your location and which transmitter(s) you should be able to receive from.

Retuning as a bad idea as all it will do is lose many channels that might have been correctly tune.

AEKostas:

Please go to the Digital UK Coverage Checker at Digital UK - Coverage checker and put in your full post code and house number. Then scroll down to find the listing for the Craig Kelly transmitter. That will tell you the current channel settings and those expected in the future, together with when any changes might be expected.

Terry Meehan:

You need to have a wideband aerial fitted to get all the signals from the Darvel transmitter. It uses channels between 22 and 56, which needs the wideband aerial to get all of those channels. There has been no change to the output power of the transmitter. It is predicted that the ARQA, COM7 and COM8 signals could be somewhat variable, probably due to the terrain.
