Mark Cairns:

Something did happen - at the bottom of your post are several small blue boxes as a result of your entering your full post code. Click on any of the boxes to see the details provided. The 'digitaluk trade' box shows that you should be getting excellent reception from Southway and Caradon Hill. Southway is a 'light' transmitter so only carried three multiplexes. Caradon Hill is a full service transmitter so carried all eight multiplexes. The relevant channels used are also shown.

If you wish to have a more immediate display of information use the Digital UK Coverage Checker at Digital UK - Coverage checker and enter your full post code and house number.

Bidgood:

You should be getting Drama on LCN 20. Drama is carried on the COM4 multiplex together with ITV3 and several others. If you can get programmes on LCNs 10, 21, 26, 27, 30, 34, 37, 44, 54, 57, 58, 59, 61, 63, 64, 66, 70, 80, 83, 203, 211 and 17 others then you should also be getting Drama as that is on the same multiplex as those mentioned.

Please provide a full post code, as requested, so we can see which transmitter of the over 1100 in the UK that you are likely to be using.

Please also check what the signal strength is on your system and check the aerial cables are in good order. Unplug any plugs/sockets and refit, that will clear any corrosion/oxidations as well.

The Tacolnston transmitter is not on low power at all.

Please firstly provide a full post code, as is requested, so we can check what the expected signal reception is likely to be at your location. Secondly list the channel (not programme) numbers you are tuned to and compare them with the listed channel for the Tacolnston multiplexes (find that by entering your posy code and house number into the Digital UK Coverage Checker at http://www.digitaluk.co.u…ker, then secrol down to the list for Tacolnston. Ensure you are tuned to the correct channels, manually correcting any if needed.

Roz Fitzner:

Like M ikeB, I suspect you have a fault in your aerial system. The predicted reception for your location is good from Mendip and Kings Weston Hill, which is just 2 km away.

Please check all your aerial cables and connections to ensure there is no damage and if there are plugs/sockets then unplug and then refit then to clear any possible corrosion/oxidation on the contact surfaces. Also check that your aerial is undamaged and pinting in the correct direction, 185 degrees for Kings Weston Hill mounted with the little rods vertical or 177 degrees for Mendip with the little rods horizontal. It is likely that the same direction will be able to receive both transmitter signals but Mendip requires a wide band aerial and Kings Weston Hill currently needs a Group C/D aerial but that is likely to change next year to also require a wideband aerial. It would be a good idea to consider having a wideband aerial fitted soon but don't fall for the con of a 'digital' aerial as there is no such thing.

Once that is resolved, you should tune your TV manually to the channels for your opreferred transmitter: for Mendip use channels 49, 54, 58, 48, 33, 52, 36 and 35) though they will change sometine between April and June next year). For Kings Weston Hill use channels 43, 40, 46, 53, 57 and 60 (though those will change between April and June next year as well). Note that Kings Weston Hill does not transmit COM7 nor COM8.

Your desired signal strengths should be in the range between 60% and 85%, less or more will give rise to problems. Signal quality is not usually an issue if the strengths are correct.

If in doubt about any of the actions needed, please consider engaging a local professional aerial contractor.

AEKostas:

The expected in future channels are listed below the current channels for each available trnasmitter. The klistings show the current channels as the top line folowed by the expected future channel usage below that, usually covering the period up to 2020.

DaveK:

One common cause for problems like yours is poor aerial connections. So polease check all your aerial cables and if there are coaxial plugs/sockets then unplug them and refit. That will clear any corrosion/oxidation on the contacts and often cures the problem.

Further to that said by Ken Collyer, your signal strengths should all be between 60% and 85% - not more and no less.

Note that PSB3 from Bluebell hill is on channel 45 currently.

Craigkelly (Fife, Scotland) transmitter
Thursday 11 October 2018 11:23AM

AEKostas:

Each row shows the channels being used in the timescale in the left hand column. Each row represents the channels used in future changes. So if row one shows it uses (hypothetically) 20,21,22,23,24,25 but the next row shows it uses channels 31,32,33,34,35,36 then that means some engineering work will be carried out in the timeframe show at the left end of that row.

Using the full post code for the transmitter location entered into the Digital UK Coverage Checker at Coverage Checker - Detailed View shows that currently Craigkelly uses channels 27, 24, 21+, 29, 31, 37, 55 and 56. It also shows that from 202 is will be using the same channels. It also shows that to receive the programmes carried on COM7 and COM8 you need a wideband aerial. That suggests that there are no changes planned in the foreseeable future at Craigkelly.

Chris Ham:

The BBCA multiplex is on channel 50, the D3&4 multiplex is on 59, the BBCB multiplex is on channel 54-, the SDN multiplex is on channel 58, the ARQA multiplex is on channel 49, the ARQB multiplex is on channel 37, COM7 is on channel 55 and COM8 is on channel 31. There is no COM6 multiplex. Currently only the BBCB, COM7 and COM8 multiplexes are broadcasting using DVB-T2 encoding, all the others are using DVB-T encoding.

Michelle Chamberlain:

Please provide a full post code for their location so that we can examine the predicted reception conditions there. That is only possible with a full post code being provided as requested in the text above the entry box. There are over 1100 transmitters and with the full post code we will then be able to see which are receivable at their location.

Please provide a full post code so we can examine the predicted reception conditions at your location. Then we can determine whether there are any known faults at whichever transmitter yiou are using.
