Maurice N:

At your location you should be using the Belmont transmitter, see Coverage Checker - Detailed View You need a wideband aerial aimed at a bearing of 46 degrees with the rods horizontal. The transmitter is 33km away so you will not need any amplifier.

Scott:

The usage of channels 55 and 56 is purely temporary on 30 of the main transmitters until sometime in 2022, when the programmes using the COM7 and COM8 multiplexes will be moved to other locations. 5G will not gain access to the 700 MHz+ band until it has been cleared of all TV broadcasts in 2022. Until then many viewers need a wideband aerial to get those two multiplexes as most non-wideband aerials designed for Group A or Group B are very poor at receiving 'out of band' signals at higher frequencies. If you never want to watch any of the programmes broadcast on COM7 or COM8 then you probably don't need a wideband aerial.

After the changes expected in 2022 the requiremnet will change so you will need an aerial that covers the frequencies between 470 MHz and 695 MHz (channels 21 to 49). The current design of wideband aerials will work perfectly adequately over that range but newer designs may appear will a lower top end cutoff frequency - but they are not suitable for use with the current channel allocation scheme.

Divis (Northern Ireland) transmitter

Paul Rice:

Further to that said by Amanda Hughenkis, look at the blue digitaluk trade box under your posting. That leads you to Coverage Checker - Detailed View which shows you are 7 km away from the Divis transmitter. Please ensure that your signal strength is between 60% and 85%, more will cause your problems.

Dennis Anthony:

To offer any meaningful suggestions it is essential that your provide us with a full post code for your location. There are over 1100 transmitters around the UK so you could be using any of them.

One thing you can check is the reported signal strengths shown by your television. Go to the manual tuning option and check the signal strengths shown but DO NOT RETUNE. Ideally the strengths shopuld be betwee 60% and 85%, any stronger will cause pixilation, etc.

This website is not operated by Transmitter Engineering. That function is performed by Arqiva so you should contact them directly at enquiries@arqiva.com and state which transmitter you are enquiring about.

Pat Lloyd :

It is entirely up to the programme providers to supply any subtitles they wish to have available on their service. If they choose not to have them then they will not be available. I suggest you write to the individual programme providers concerned, not this website, asking them about the provision of subtitles.

Detailed comparison Freeview/Sky
Saturday 17 November 2018 10:52AM

effie:

Are both sets Freeview HD capable? Are they connected to the same aerial system? Are they tuned to the same transmitter? Which programmes are 'missing' on one TV? What signal strengths are you getting on both sets for each multiplex channel?

Craigkelly uses the following channels: 27, 24, 21, 29, 32, 37, 55 and 56. So you need to be using a wideband aerial for both sets.

That's because the owner of this site has not updated the link handling as he is unavailable at this time. No one else can do that.

Paul:

Further to that said by others, to check which transmitter your TV is tuned to go to the manual tuning page and not the channel number for several of the programmes. Freeview transmitters broadcast several programme on common channels known as a multiplex, so some will be thae same as others but some different. Once you have listed some of the different channels found go to the Digital UK Coverage Checker at Digital UK - Coverage checker and put iin your post code and house number. Then scroll down the list and check which transmitter matches the channels you have found on the TV. DO NOT RETUNE.
