It's not the transmitter, else there would have been many more complaints. Please check all your aerial cables and connections, unplugging any coaxial plugs/sockets and then refitting them. A problem in the awrial cabling or corrosion/oxidation on the contacts of the plugs and sockets is the most common cause of the problem you report.

Assuming you are using the Craigkelly transmitter, you need a wideband aerail to get all the channels. The ones you appear to not be getting are transmitted in the COM 7 and COM 8 multiplexes which are on channels 55 and 56, so well above the frequencies for the other channels. They are transmitted using DVB-T2 encoding so you need to have a Freeview HD set, not just an HD Ready type.

When I was looking for a replacement TV set, I wanted one that had satellite reception built-in. Unfortunately, most of the big name manufacturers don't say much, if anything, about reception of Freesat. LG specifically stated that the TV i was looking at did not have the ability to receive Freesat. That turned out to be factually inaccurate as it has a built-in satellite receoiver that can receive the signals from the Astra satellites used by Sky, Freesat and others. They claim it is because they have not included a system to display the programmes in the numerical order chosen by Freesat, so they claim it cannot receive Freesat - which is misleading. I bought an LG set and it does receive Freesat signal with no problem at all. It just doesn't list them in the order chosen by Freesat. So the marketing people have chosen to mislead and misinform potential customers.

I suggest you ask Channel 4 themselves as they will not see your comment on this website as it is entirely independent al all broadcasters.

There is no problem with the Sutton Coldfield transmitter. If there were then ove a million people would have been affected and complained.

Please check all your aerial connections, unplugging all coaxial plugs/sockets and refitting them. Then check what programmes you can receive. Nearly all problems such as you report are due to aerial system faults.

But it receives the Freesat signals and displays them perfectly. All it doesn't do is list the programmes in the order Freesat want. So it is misleading to say it doesn't receive Freesat.

That illustrates just how difficult it is to remotely diagnose reception problems. I'd suggest asking a competant TV engineer to look at your system.

In my view, the EPG is NOT Freesat. It may well be the intellectual property of Freesat but the programmes available are collectively known as Freesat, irrespective of who originates the signals sent via the Astra satellites.

The general public view Freesat as being the collective programmes with the EPG being an add-on that provides easy access to those programmes. Some of the programmes available via Freesat are not available via Sky or other sources.

I usually ignore all the marketing 'spin' and stick to facts that users understand.

It is only available from the few main transmitters providing COM7. There are 35 of those. None of the other transmitters is able to provide the broadcasts.

Looking at the Digital UK Coverage Checker, at Coverage Checker - Detailed View shows rthat you are just 1 km from the Eastbourne transmitter. It is therefore more likely that you may have too much signal which causes the picture break up (pixilation) that you report. Please check the signal strengths of all the 6 multiplexes available. Ideally the strengths should be between 60% and 85% or so. If they are much stronger than you will need to reduce the strengths by fitting an attenuator.

The change could well have been caused by the removal of the trees which may well have been absorbing some of the signal before.
