Apparently we are to get some announcement today.

Hopefully that FM will continue indefinitely.

STEVENSON

"the answer my friend is a blowing in the wind."

Snow or rain can block your signal but wind can only take effect by moving the dish. Is it mounted firmly or on the end of a wobbly pole?

It may be that the dish is not optimally pointed.

Or the low-noise block downconverter or its connections may be loose.

Can experts here advise how precisely the dish needs pointing, and how practical it is to "up a bit down a bit left a bit right a bit" - presumably with a few secs lag time to allow for?

Can you access it to play with, tighten screws, etc?

robin jermy - as Michael said this board, despite its name, is simply one man's website and discussion forum, and has nothing to do with any service provider.

Why are you dealing with Sky or Virgin?

Most people can get perfectly satisfactory service from Freeview and/or Freesat.

<< Another possible reason for your problem is by water having entered the "F" connector on the dishes LNB >>.

We had that only last week. Glad I decided to spend £45 getting a man with test equipment to do it rather than try it myself

He was disparaging about the original installers (Digital TV Help for Disabled/Old users) who had used an indoor fitting. He charged £2 for an outdoor "crimped" connector.

Janet Harriman - that is very odd if they are totally separate systems. Hard to comment without knowing what sort of system and where you are.

Have you asked neighbours?

Or has it resolved?

Andy - as already advised you need and should do nothing unless you want the paid for channels.

I presume the Sky contract is in your ex's name?

Tony - your existing outdoor aerial is good for freeview except in a few cases where different frequencies used.

It may be that the socket in your bedroom connects to the living room if you have two there. Try TV downstairs.

Lena it looks like there is something wrong. Please give some information.

Is TV OK next door?

I recently needed to add a DVD to my TV which currently uses its two SCARTS for Freeview and FreeSky and its single HDMI for t'internet.

Looking at the boxes the DVD and TV both had YPbPr and the DVD came with a 3 way cable

Worked fine but no sound so I used just the Y for b/w and the other two for sound; then ordered a double RCA cable from Amazon. All now perfick.

I think I have one TV connection left!

Re SCART switches - obviously a manual switch will work. In theory you should be able to just string extra sources live but SCART is a very old much abused standard so it may not work!

GHASTLY design. And no retaining screws!

If it might be overload try unpluggung the aerial and using just a fly lead.

Attenuators are cheap enough to try out

I am gobsmacked that there could be any thought of abolishing Freeview..

What else are we to use when the satdish is full of snow?

Individual transmission via 20 million internet tv links is madness, and many people dont have fast internet and will not for decades.
