Les watson: If the box still responds to the remote control, then try the following procedure, the content of copied from another website. If though the box doesn't respond, then try switching it off and then on again, if this fails to make any difference then this suggests that the Hard drive has failed, although make sure that the batteries in the remote control are still OK.

nichola maris: Reception of Sheffield live (8) is entirely dependent on your location, (post code required to check) as the low powered signal from the Sheffield transmitter is beamed out in an Easterly / to S/S Easterly direction.

If your TV or box has a "manual tuning" facility try scanning C55, this being the multiplex channel number that the programme is transmitted on.

Paul J: Try carrying out a fresh retune on your Freesat device, as the channel had also vanished on my receiver, the retune having restored it.

Briantist: Experiencing problems (as seen below) when attempting to access the site via Firefox, although it seems to be OK, albeit a little slow to load on IE11, this having only occurred since this morning and shows up exactly the same on both my PC's.

Alexei Romanov: Can't speak as far as last weeks problems are concerned, but please be aware that as from today (3/8/2015) engineering work is taking place at the Blackhill transmitter, a notice to this effect of "possible weak signal" having been posted on the engineering page.

Briantist: Many thanks, as all would certainly seem to be perfectly OK now, at least with me anyway!

Paul J: Pleased that the retune has solved the problem, as Al Jazeera is also one of the channels viewed by myself, albeit as far as news and events are concerned, RT today being one of the others.

Trevor H : I suspect that your problem is basically down to the signal strength received from your aerial system running at a level thats only slightly above that necessary to resolve a picture, whereby any slight drop in same results in the signal dropping out. The other aspect of engineering work taking place at the Sutton Coldfield transmitter this week certainly not helping matters any, as a warning of "possible weak signal" has been posted on the engineering page.

However, taking the middle of Coventry as an example, the signal path from the Sutton Coldfield transmitter suffers from a line of sight blockage at around 1 and just under 2 miles from said location, and even before these blockages the signal path is seen to run at a very low angle across the terrain, this type of situation being prone to reception being affected by seasonal changes in weather conditions etc, which I suspect, is the root cause of your problem.

Needless to say, your aerial system really requires improving to raise the level being fed into your TV or box, so that any reduction in level will not result in drop out.

Even although the screen might well be blank, you should carry out a signal level test on S/C's BBC1, the procedure being to carry out a "manual" tune on C43 but "not" followed by pressing search or scan after having entered the number, as on most equipment the strength of any signal received (nomatter how low) will show up in the indicator bars, you could also try the test on ITV C46.

Gary Lausch : In addition to that said by Dave Lindsay, that irrespective of what option the post code reception indicator may have given I am acquaint with the Dundee area, and as such can say that if you reside anywhere North or South on the West side of Dundee, that the signal from the Angus transmitter is nearly non existent in that area.

The other point being, that if the aerial referred to is of the "same room" variety, then any signal that is received will most likely be from the Tay Bridge transmitter.

Alexei Romanov: Irrespective of any other factors which may, or may not be involved, the fact remains that the "possible weak signal" notice which has been in force since a week last Monday, applies to the multiplex you are having problems receiving.
