Pam gibson: If you are meaning that you are unable to feed the Freeview signal + the Sky boxes analogue signal into other rooms in your house because your new Sky+HD box is not fitted with RF-in / RF1 RF2 output sockets? then you will have to purchase a small device called an I.O. port modulator, this being a device that connects into the I.O socket on the rear of the box replacing the analogue modulator which has been a feature on all Sky boxes over a number of years.

These devices can be obtained from numerous web sources such as Amazon or e-bay, or indeed even from Sky themselves.

Joan: Yes, as cancelling a Sky subscription only affects your ability to view programmes that are part of a Sky package, and if your box is a Sky+ or Sky+HD device, disabling the recording and playback side of the box as well as being able to view certain (non PSB) channels in HD, although they still can be viewed in SD.

You can get an idea of the result of cancelling your subscription simply by removing your viewing card, as anything that requires the card will trigger the caption "please insert your viewing card".

sylvia crawley: The problem referred to is more inclined to point to the new? Humax box being defective rather than anything else, the device in question possibly requiring a software update in order to rectify the situation, as Humax boxes can occasionally suffer from lock ups.

If your Humax has been purchased as a brand new device, try it out for a week or so to see if the problem happens again, as it might iron itself out after using it for a few days, if though it doesn't, return it to the retailer as a defective item and requesting a replacement, as Humax devices are basically one of the best brands around, I myself having three of them, albeit one being a Freesat model.

By the way, although I cant swear by it, but I think I recall seeing this model mentioned in the software "over air" download list within the last two weeks, although it isn't for this week.

Henry P: Indications are that your area is covered by the Oxford Transmitter at just over 12miles away on a bearing of 87 degrees, no engineering work taking place at the station nor has any faults been reported, therefore your best policy would be to check with someone in your immediate locality for the purpose of ascertaining if they are also experiencing similar problems with their reception, as although you may well have tried connecting the aerial directly into your TV with similar results to that of your Freeview box, i.e: no signal, everything still points to a problem with your aerial system.

Although you haven't mentioned it as such, but if your aerial system is amplified in any way? try bypassing the amplifier.

Karen: Try disconnecting your box from the mains for around 30 seconds or so before reconnecting it again and allowing it to go through the "searching for listings" procedure, as the problem you are experiencing is more inclined to be down to a glitch having developed in the box rather than anything connected with cancelling your subscription.

Winter Hill (Bolton, England) transmitter

David : (WA14) Engineering work is presently taking place at the Winter Hill transmitter with a "possible weak signal" warning having been posted on the engineering page, this possibly being the reason for your problem.

It would however be prudent to inquire with some other household located nearby to find out if their Freeview reception is also being affected in a similarly way to your own.

Movies4Men

duncan macdonald: If you are able to view Pick TV (11) and also Sky news (132) then these two are broadcast on the same COM5 multiplex as is Movies4Men, try carrying out an auto-tune on your TV and see if if corrects the problem, which its suspected as having been caused by a glitch in the tuners memory system.

If though the retune fails to rectify the issue, try completely resetting the TV, this also known as "manufacturers reset", "default setting", or "first time installation".

Michelle: Engineering work "has" been taking place all week at the Winter Hill transmitter, and with this possibly still taking place this weekend, as engineers are not necessarily engaged on a Monday to Friday basis.

Have you ascertained if your neighbours are also experiencing similar problems with reception? if though they are not, then your aerial system could possibly justify improving, as the signal being provided by same is likely to be a tad on the low side. I say this based on the fact of most aerials in your area seen to be pointing in the direction of Winter Hill.

Open the undermentioned link and select "Granada".

By the way, are you also using a Freesat box as well as Freeview? as Winter Hill is purely associated with terrestrial based Freeview transmissions.

I am missing a transmission multiplex?

Jo: If the kitchen TV can still receive PSB2 when connected into the lounge TV's aerial socket, then carry out a manufacturers reset on the Sony Bravia in order to correct the glitch in the tuners memory, this procedure also known as "default setting" or "first time installation".
