RAI - THE BAD NEWS: As of 29 May, more of RAI 1 and 2 IS encrypted than before. RAI 3 and RAI News remain free-to-air. If you receive 3 and N, re-tune in all channels on this transponder, including encrypted, and check from time to time to see how much of RAI 1 and 2 are still free-to-view. Probably the less exciting programmes... The only way to get all programming would be to use a bona-fide address in Italy to obtain and register a Tiva set-top box. There may be companies in the UK that "facilitate" this, but be wary. An internet search of "tiva" will produce more information.

RAI - sorry, misprint : should read TIVU, not
tiva!

RAI 1,2,3 and News are currently all FTA on 10.992GHz (Monday, 9am UK time). 1 and 2 will presumably be encrypted for some later programmes. Other RAI programming is on other frequencies : 11.804, 11.807, 11.768.

RAI - Craig, Briantist is correct. Formally, you have to register a Tivu receiver from a bona-fide address in Italy for the card to be recognised and activated. The Tivu website gives full details. Some UK retailers advertising on the net offer a way round this, but research and great caution are advisable before considering this. Many RAI programmes remain free-to-air, but many that are restricted to Tivu-only may well be programmes of choice... Of course, there remains the consolation of countless regional and shopping channels, many with abysmal picture quality :-)

RAI 1,2,3 and News have moved to 10992GHz, Vertical, 27500, 2/3. More RAI and other programmes are now encrypted. To get unrestricted viewing, you need a Tivu receiver registered to a bona-fide address in Italy. Relatives might be able to help... Search for Tivu on the internet for more information. UK
retailers offer a way round, but caution is advisable.

RAI - Francesco: Double-check the parameters
you input manually, including the 2/3 FEC. If still no joy, check other transponders below 11.000 GHz. Online, Lyngsat or KingofSat will give you the parameters. If they are fine, so should 10.992 be! If not, then it is possible (but not very likely) that your LNB doesnt perform well at the lower end of the band and/or that your dish is slightly off optimal alignment with the 13°E satellite, or too small.

RAI - Gino, research the UK options carefully before proceeding. If you can buy a Tivu box
in Italy and register it to an address there, you will be safer longterm.

RAI - Thanks "Dranreb69"; that is the fuller information. The codice fiscale requirement is the reason why caution with UK dealers is advised.

NORTH DEVON DAB - Ofcom has launched a public consultation on Now Digitals application to extend from Exeter/Torbay to North Devon. In principle, good news. However the Ofcom coverage maps indicate clearly that many areas in the undulating terrain of North Devon will get unreliable or no DAB reception, except perhaps from Wales. This is particulary evident along the Bristol Channel coast (where CCI problems with Carmel continue to affect DTT reception for many). BBC local/regional radio must be carried by a commercial multiplex, so when AM/FM are terminated, many areas will no longer receive BBC local/regional radio, which is high priority for many listeners. Any interested should respond by 29.6.11 online to the Ofcom questionnaire and lobby for BBC local /regional radio to continue on AM and FM until DAB coverage is identical : Ofcom | Responding to the consultation .
