Hello, I cannot receive AL JAZEERA english, since it left ch133. the list tells me to go to ch HD108. but when i try i get a screen notice INVALID channel. I can get 4HD channels but not 108. I live within the Winter hill transmission. I have an up to date full hd tv (Panasonic smart tv) no tv pkge from the providers. only use Freeview and internet. and i have re-tuned my tv. My accommodation is using a communal aerial, there are no other reception problems.

jb38: Interesting article about com7, my Panasonic smart tv meets the criteria, but like others, cannot tune in Al Jazeera on HD108. My area uses Winter hill Lanc's. will have to delve deeper because AJ was one of my favorite channels.

jb38: Thanks for your reply, sorry i do not understand the jargon, C31 /554.0mghz . perhaps i should explain that i have re-tuned my TV using all means, but to no avail. I live in sheltered accom, we share a communal aerial. i have requested the aerial should be re-tuned or replaced. i hope this will be the initial reason i cannot access the required HD channels.

Cheers J . As stated my Panasonic smart tv , is only 7 months old, Full hd. with the DVB-T/T2 receiving system. I can receive HD 101, 102, 103,and 104. no others. I have tried the re-tunes. Also asked the owners of the communal aerial, to have a technician look at the external aerial. I am not savvy to all the technical aspects so am hoping it is an aerial issue. Thanks once again.

Thanks again J. your article was informative. i manually tuned as you suggested. The ch31 at 554 mhz showed no signal at all. the only strong signal was on ch54 at 738mhz. (does that make sense?) if as you appear to suggest my location is at the periphery of Winter hill, then even aerial adjustments might not be the answer. The owners of the communal aerial will have it looked at,until then there appears to be nothing i can do to better the situation. Cheers!

J, Thanks once again for your informative response. As you suggested i tried C32 but no signal. I had good signal strength & quality on C 50,54,55 and 50% C56. MY TV's are both Panasonic, a TX-40AS640B & TX50CX700B. The latter being 8 months old. The communal aerial is on a 2mtre pole ,points due east. its overall height incl roof height is approx 10mtrs. considering your comments it appears the aerial needs a re-tune or replacement. Cheers J.

J, by way of a coincidence, an engineer has just been to the sheltered housing here and has succeeded in fixing the problem. He had to replace filters on the control box in the loft and on the aerial. He reckoned that STORTON gave the stronger boost. I re-tuned my TV's on C31, and Al Jazeera HD appeared along with a few other HD channels, all told i can now receive 17 extra channels and am well pleased with the Freeveiw content and quality. Everything you had suggested in your previous bloggs ,were spot on. Thanks once again.

Thanks J & jb38, this has been an interesting forum. The Engineer who re-tuned our aerial suggested some viewers retuning their TV'S would probably pick up some Welsh channels in this area. So far ,so good for my own requirements though as i have a good quality HD pickup. and my favorite AL Jazeera is back on stream. Cheers.

I have been so pleased with the Freeview platform over recent months, that i cancelled my tv bundle with a major provider. I believe this to be a trend gathering pace. The major providers are losing customers who find Freeview caters for their TV needs. Please stay Free , Perhaps the next move in TV would be the abolition of the TV License,so that it is no longer a privilege to own and operate a TV. Full marks to FREEVIEW.
