A question for Freeview user in Scotland
Tuesday 22 November 2011 11:10PM

If I lived in Scotland I would have to bite the bullet & buy FREESAT.

I wouldn't be able to survive without decent quality BBC Radio 24/7 & the ability to record and edit it using my Toshiba hard drive, as I do with the TV & radio here in England.

BBC ALBA is there as well for those who like it with English subtitles if required.

So does that mean after 2020 Radio 4 listeners will be receiving some programmes in much reduced quality than the do now !!

What an absolute joke. In which case I suggest they leave BBC R4 FM exactly where it is now (in 24/7 STEREO), including better quality BBC World Service overnight than its own specific DAB channel.

Can someone tell me why two of the groups of SAVINGS pages on page 2510 on THE BBC RED BUTTON text services (nationwide) are displaying nonesense and have been for the last two years on all BBC TV platforms FREEVIEW & FREESAT. When you complain they just try to fob you off by telling you that you are seeing things. The BBC gets more arrogant as the years go by and it's standards are falling year on year alo.

As this has happened twice now I think Ofcom should prevent Channel 5 with their HUGE 5 LOGO from ever being able to use this multiplex again and if the BBC had any sense they should add BBC FOUR HD to their HD Multiplex, whilst at the same time removing it's LOGO from bith the atandard anf HD version of the channel, as we BBC FOUR viewers are smart enough not to need one.

Nice to hear EARTHSEARCH II in stereo on BBC RADIO 4 EXTRA (weekdays 6:30pm) again on Freeview & the i-player but sadly in boring low bit rate MONO on DAB. This is a classic James Follett Sci-fi series first broadcast at noon on Sundays on BBC Radio 4. Ditto BETTER THAN LIFE the "Red Dwarf" classic radio series (by Grant Naylor), also in stereo, read by the amazing Chris Barrie. Weekdays at 6pm. Catch up on the i-player. I hope they go on to repeat "INFINITY WELCOMES CAREFUL DRIVERS" epecially those driving trucks in the vicinity of BEDFORD FALLS and cars in HOLBY CITY !!

No point adding more commercial stations to already crowded multiplexes when bit rates are so low anyway quite a few existing stations have had to lower rates and go into MONO to accommodate them. This is crazy. If we are not careful their sound quality will be less than Medium Wave !!! if it isn't already in the case of some of the Absolute themed decade stations. The chap who runs BBC Asian Network was at Any questions in Dudley the other week and he admitted how disappointed he was with the audio quality of his network (64 kbps mono on Multiplex 12B).

Nedbod: I know Brian, that's why I record it using the phono lead from the i-player. I now have all 20 episodes of EARTHSEARCH I & II which costs a small fortune to buy on CD. I think it's fantastic. The sound quality is excellent (even in the car). My mates were astounded when I played it to them t'other day. I even added TEXT to my CD with episode info on my car text display, COOL !!

Nedbod: Sadly Peter Bob Holness will no longer be one of them. It's BLOCKBUSTERS with an "S" by the way. Fans are in for a real treat on Challenge next weekend 28/29 Jan 2012 as there are 24 hours of BLOCKBUSTERS 9am-9pm Sat & Sun as a trubute. I think you will need several "P"s Bob over that period. :)-)-< ..... p
