Det: Tru TV has moved to the local multiplex and is only available on Freeview in areas where there is a local channel on 7 or 8, which doesn't include anywhere in Cornwall.

John Higham: Which relay transmitter are you talking about? There are many relays that use Waltham as their parent transmitter.

HIlary Woodward: The signal strength has nothing to do with your licence fee. Tacolneston is on 24km away from you, the main services (PSB1/2/3 & COM4/5/6) are all broadcast at 100kW and the postcode checker predicts that you should have good reception. No one else is complaining about the same problem so it's far more likely to be caused either by something in your aerial system or local interference. Start by checking for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV and and anywhere else the aerial cable passes through that you can safely access.

Sylvia: Are you missing 4 Music (Freeview channel 18) which is broadcast on the same multiplex? Retuning is not helpful when you have missing channels as all you are doing is deleting the channels which are already stored and searching for them again. Please provide a full postcode so that we can see your predicted coverage, which transmitter you're using and where you are in relation to it etc.

John: Do you have an amplifier or powered splitter to distribute the aerial feed to the various sockets around your house? What signal strength and quality readings do you get on the other multiplexes on the middle floor bedroom TV? What signal strength and quality do you get for COM5 on the other TVs where COM5 is working?

Christine Harrison : You shouldn't need a new viewing card to use your box with the Freesat from Sky service (please note that this has nothing to do with the Freesat service operated by the BBC & ITV). Just connect the box up and most free channels will work anyway as the viewing card is only needed to set the correct BBC/ITV region and to allowing viewing of a handful of free to view (FTV) channels such as Sony Movie Channel and Yesterday +1.

John: Try taking the bedroom TV to one of the other working sockets if practical and check the signal strength/quality for COM5. If that results in a similar signal strength and quality to the TV normally connected at the socket you're using to test, that would indicate that there is a fault somewhere between the bedroom and the amplifier. It would be worth making some simple checks such as replacing the cable between the TV and aerial socket with a known good one and unscrewing the socket to check the connections on the back, also check the cable and connection at the amplifier for any signs of damage.

Dover (Kent, England) Full Freeview transmitter
Sunday 11 February 2018 11:02PM

peter rance: BBC Four is on the PSB1 multiplex (UHF 46 from Bluebell Hill & UHF 23 from Crystal Palace). BBC Four HD is on COM8 (UHF 34 from Bluebell Hill & UHF 35 from Crystal Palace). If your aerial is pointed at Bluebell Hill then it will be around 60 degrees away from the direction of Crystal Palace, which is likely to result in weaker signal strength if you attempt to tune in muxes from CP.

Paul: My5 has become 5Select (the originally announced change to 5Prime was dropped due to trademark issues, presumably with the Amazon Prime streaming service). If you are receiving True Entertainment then you are picking it up from a transmitter in England as it isn't present on any transmitters in Wales.

lynda: Most indoor aerials are rubbish (they are usually little more than a piece of wire sticking out of an amplifier) and will only give good reception if you have a strong signal. If you provide a full postcode you'll get a coverage prediction which will allow further advice to be given.
