Eric: Make a note of any planned recordings, then unplug the aerial and rescan to clear all of your channels. Then plug the aerial back in and rescan again, which should restore all your channels with fresh tuning data.

BBC Four HD

Bob : The COM7 & COM8 multiplexes moved to new frequencies at Crystal Palace on 21st March (UHF channels 55 & 56) which will be hard to receive if you have a Group A aerial. If you don't have satellite or cable you may be eligible to have a replacement wideband aerial fitted free of charge, which can be arranged by contacting the Freeview Advice Line (see link below).

Gary Calder: BBC Four HD has not been removed in preference to any commercial channel. It was reported earlier this year that the BBC volunteered to move CBeebies HD & BBC Four HD to COM8 as capacity needed to be reduced on COM7 and COM8 in order to increase the guard interval so that they could become single frequency networks (COM8 has far fewer channels than COM7 and there isn't enough capacity available for another HD channel on any other mux). COM7 & COM8 are temporary commercial muxes which have never offered any guarantee of coverage to anyone. COM7 will be moving to UHF channel 55 at Rowridge on 2nd May, with Digital UK reporting that it will get a slight increase in power.

Adrien: Why do you think the licence fee has anything to do with the number of channels you receive? It isn't a subscription and you are already getting all of the BBC services which it funds. The commercial broadcasters do not receive anything from your licence fee and are not interested in expanding beyond the coverage levels they currently have on Freeview.

Margaret-ann Ellmers: Because it shares its capacity on Freeview with another channel which broadcasts during those hours.

Chris Roberts: Increasing the power would cause interference with other transmitters. COM7 & COM8 are temporary multiplexes which cover around 70% of UK households from 30 transmitters at a lower cost than COM4/5/6 by reusing old transmitter equipment left over from before digital switchover. You may find that reception improves when COM7 & COM8 move to UHF channels 55 & 56 at Hannington on 18th April and form a single frequency network (SFN) with Crystal Palace.

William WALLACE: Sewing Quarter can be found on channel 78. The caption you're seeing on 794 is to tell viewers to retune to get the channel back on 78 as it moved multiplex earlier this week.

roger: COM6 changed frequency at Midhurst on 21st March and can now be found on UHF channel 33. If you are getting a weak signal you are probably using a Group C/D aerial which was not designed to receive the lower frequency now in use. If you don't have satellite or cable you should be eligible to have a replacement wideband aerial fitted free of charge, which can be arranged by contacting the Freeview Advice Line (see link below).

RICHARD STEHR: You are predicted to get a good signal from both Emley Moor and Belmont transmitters. What signal strength and quality readings are you getting on the channels that are still working?
