PBS America

Bob Thacker: PSB America is on the COM8 multiplex which changed frequency at Sutton Coldfield earlier this year. Try manual tuning on UHF channel 56, if that doesn't restore it and you don't have satellite or cable you may be eligible to have a replacement wideband aerial fitted free of charge, which can be arranged by contacting the Freeview Advice Line (see link below).

McMahon: Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Retuning will never fix a weak signal and can often make things worse by deleting the channels with weak/no signal making it harder to see when the fault has been fixed.

John Nice: PBS America is broadcast on the COM8 multiplex which (along with COM7) is a temporary service available from 30 main transmitter covering around 70% of UK households. There are no plans to expand coverage to any additional transmitters, with COM7 & COM8 being expected to close within the next few years. None of the broadcasters on COM7/8 have yet announced what will happen to their channels on Freeview when the temporary muxes close.

David Rowlands: A small dish (e.g. 40cm) would be fine anywhere near the south coast.

Frank: If you can't pick up Forces TV from Rowridge by manual tuning on UHF channel 56 then you most likely have a Group A aerial which is not designed to receive the higher part of the UHF band. If you don't have satellite or cable you may be eligible to have a replacement wideband aerial fitted free of charge, which can be arranged by contacting the Freeview Advice Line (see link below).
