Stephen Wright: FreeSports is broadcast on the COM8 multiplex, which is a temporary service available from 30 main transmitters giving coverage of around 70% of UK households. COM7 & COM8 will not be added to any further transmitters and are expected to close by 2022. Commercial broadcasters wishing to broadcast on Freeview purchase capacity from a multiplex operator which gives them coverage from a defined list of transmitters, with capacity on multiplexes available from a higher number of transmitters (e.g. COM4/5/6 with 90% coverage from around 80 transmitters) being more expensive than capacity on a lower coverage multiplex (e.g. COM7/8).

Alan Harrison: There are no faults showing for the transmitter. Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV? Do not attempt to retune.

keith: To receive all channels from Mendip you would need a wideband aerial mounted with horizontal polarity.

kevin john hicks: The prediction for your postcode suggests that it's more likely you would be using either Bluebell Hill or Tunbridge Wells rather than Heathfield. There are no recent faults or engineering work showing for any of those transmitters.

PBS America

Kenneth : If you're receiving the Craigkelly transmitter, the COM8 multiplex (where PBS America is broadcast) recently changed frequency and you're most likely using a Group A aerial which is not designed to receive the new higher frequency. If you don't have satellite or cable you may be eligible to have a replacement wideband aerial fitted free of charge, which can be arranged by contacting the Freeview Advice Line (see link below).

Roderick Barker: Most of Liverpool should be able to receive PBS America on the COM8 multiplex with an aerial pointed at the Winter Hill transmitter. It isn't broadcast from the Storeton transmitter. If you provide a full postcode we can see what the predicted coverage is at your new location.

Heathfield (East Sussex, England) transmitter

Tom peters: If the transmitter had been down for several hours there would be many more people complaining, but since only one other person has posted in the last few days it's almost certainly something at your end. If you are getting a signal strength of 10 out of 10 then your tuner may well be being overloaded and unable to cope with any slight increase in received signal strength due to the weather conditions etc. Try using an attenuator to reduce the signal strength a bit. Another possibility is that some source of local electrical interference is wiping out the wanted signals when the item causing the interference is switched on.

M Schofield: As no one on this website has any connection with any broadcaster or transmitter company we don't have any further details for any engineering work. It's unlikely that the work will continue over the weekend but could continue next week if there is more to be done that couldn't be completed today.
