Emma-Jane Bassoumi: Top Up TV closed several years ago so your box is probably fairly old. It sounds like the hard drive had failed, in which case no amount of retuning will fix it. You could try powering the box off at the mains for a few hours and then try it again, but realistically you'll be far better off replacing it with a modern Freeview HD/Freeview Play PVR than replacing the hard drive.

Vicky: Your TV licence only funds the BBC and S4C, it is not a subscription and does not entitle you to receive any particular channels. You haven't said which transmitter you're using so we can't check for any known faults, but if it's been going on for more than a few days it's highly likely to be something wrong at your end (start by checking for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV etc).

Mrs S. Fisher: To summarise Chris.SE's post above yours, the current reception problems are mostly being caused by the currently weather conditions and retuning is the worst possible thing to do!

Steve: All multiplexes are broadcast in vertical polarity from Olivers Mount, so your aerial should be mounted vertically (i.e. with the elements going up and down rather than side to side).

Michael: Most (possibly all) of the 5 Live AM transmitters are fed via satellite which could easily fail and is not intended to be relied upon in a national emergency.

Richard Cooper: The vast majority of those set to loose local radio AM coverage are able to receive the same station on FM and it is hardly difficult to retune, especially if it only has to be done once and a relative, friend, neighbour, carer, etc can easily switch band and retune for them.

GeordieLad: As mentioned in numerous other comments, the owner of this website has not been able to keep up with all of the changes taking place with channel numbers/multiplexes and frequency changes.

Smithsonian recently moved to the COM5 multiplex giving the channel wider coverage (now available to over 90% of UK households) and a lower channel number (LCN) moving it higher up the guide, making it more likely to be found by more viewers.

True Moview was replaced by Sony Movies Classic, which is only broadcast on local TV multiplexes, making it only available in areas where there is a local TV station on either LCN 7 or 8. There is no local mux broadcast from Sandy Heath, however most Sandy Heath viewers in Cambridge should be able to receive the local mux from the Madingley transmitter.

Nicholas Anderson: As the article linked above states, we are already seeing 95% of new cars fitted with DAB. There is an EU directive due to be implemented this year requiring that all new vehicles be fitted with DAB+, although with Brexit there is no certainty that this will become UK law.

Paul McKenzie: Retro Movies seems to have gone off air on satellite, resulting in it being removed from the Sky and Freesat EPGs. It is apparently still available via the Channelbox streaming service on Freeview, however no announcement has been made by the owners of the channel as to why it has ceased broadcasting on satellite and when or if it will return.
