Jen: Cop Hill is lite transmitter serving only around 4,400 homes and therefore does not cover enough of the population for the commercial broadcasters to be willing to pay the cost of broadcasting from the transmitter. No one forced you to buy an expensive new TV at digital switchover, set top boxes were widely available costing less than 30 which would have allowed you to watch digital channels on your old TV. If you provide a full postcode we can see whether you might be able to receive more channels from another transmitter, or whether you would be better off looking at getting Freesat if you want more channels. The TV licence is not a subscription and does not entitle you to reception of any particular channels, nor does it fund any commercial channels (except for S4C in Wales).

Anil: Travel Channel was removed from Freesat (and Freeview) and replaced with DMAX in January 2019. It was also removed from Sky and ceased broadcasting to the UK via satellite at the end of last month.

ITV 3 +1

Maggie Dunlop: Is there any particular reason that you're watching on ITV3 +1 rather than ITV3? ITV3 +1 cannot start any earlier as the space is taken up by CITV channel until 9pm, with other channels taking the space after midnight until CITV channel starts up again in the morning.

Jeroen: The 700MHz clearance programme was due to be completed by the end of June 2020, however the final frequency changes have been delayed due to the COVID pandemic, with no new retune dates having been announced yet for the final round of frequency changes.

Tony : NOW 80s is broacast on COM7 from Crystal Palace. If you can receive BBC News HD on 107 then retune and you should get Now 80s on 83.

Tony : 101-105 are on the PSB3 HD multiplex rather than COM7. If you provide a full postcode we can see whether COM7 is predicted to be available at your location. If you have a Group A aerial you would need to replace it with a wideband type as COM7 is well outside of the frequency range a Group A aerial is designed to receive (all services from Crystal Palace were within Group A prior to the 700MHz clearance changes so a wideband type aerial has never been needed before for most viewers in London).

Tony: You're predicted to receive Crystal Palace at your location, however reception of COM7 may be variable and will require a wideband type aerial. If your TV has a manual tuning function, try it on UHF channel 55 to see if it can pick up any signal from COM7, but it may not be worth the cost of replacing your aerial when COM7 is likely to close within the next couple of years (COM8 has already closed at the end of June due to the financial impact on broadcasters caused by the decline in advertising during the COVID pandemic).

Derek Clark: We don't know where you are or which transmitter you're receiving (UHF channel 33 is used at many different transmitters) so we can't check if there are engineering works that might affect it, or what your reception is predicted to be like. If you can provide a full postcode or at least tell us which transmitter you're receiving then someone may be able to offer some advice. It's also worth checking for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV.

LYnda mcdermott: Durham is too far away to be able to receive BBC Radio Leeds on DAB. Unfortunately most local radio football commentary is not available via BBC Sounds as each station only holds the rights to broadcast match commentary in their own area.
