Michael : Why not call the store and ask what they can demo for you? There are phone numbers listed for individual stores on their website Richer Sounds Store Locations

Susan Harding: Channel 4 and Channel 5 have been having various problems (including loss of subtitles) since a fire at the Red Bee Media Broadcast Centre in London last week, which has affected many channels from different broadcasters to varying extents. All affected broadcasters have switched their playout operations to backup systems at other locations, however not all services are fully functioning on all channels. There has been no announcement yet as to when things are expected to be back to normal.

Richard Owen: It's probably down to the tuner in your radio being deafened by the nearby transmitter, especially if it is broadcasting on an adjacent channel to the one you you're tuned to. Some transmitters have had the adjacent frequency mux added at low power in order to overcome this issue.

Fiona Tate: The completion date for the temporary transmitter at Bilsdale has been delayed due to bad weather, it is now expected to start broadcasting later this month (the current target date is 19th October according to the link below). You may be able to get some channels from one of the existing temporary transmitters by doing an automatic retune (if you haven't tried that already).

simon john: You've posted on the DAB page, but I presume you are referring to DVB-T/Freeview. Madingley has only ever broadcast the Cambridge local multiplex, as Cambridge is well covered by Sandy Heath for all other multiplexes. It used to broadcast analogue Channel 5 until DSO, however it has never had any other Digital TV services.

Graham Coleman: Which DAB stations are you listening to? Do any of the radios you've tried have a display with any kind of signal strength indication? Have you tried the same radio in a different room or another location?

Mark A: That article is incorrect in stating that anything will be launching on satellite or cable on 21st October. The source for this incorrect date is scheduling information which has appeared on the BBC online schedule pages, which the BBC have confirmed erroneously list HD regions beginning from that date, so don't expect to see any regions launch in HD on any platform this month. The BBC have already announced that BBC One HD regions will be coming to Freeview, cable and satellite by the end of next year.

Sergio Dalmazzo-Auckland: There are numerous mapping errors on this website. The owner is aware but doesn't appear to have the time to fix it.

Francis Byrne: According to the post above yours, there is still transmitter work taking place this week. I would fully expect the signal to be restored to the same level as normal once the works have been completed, but it looks like they haven't finished yet.

Chris.SE: The demolition company did a very neat job, it only took around 10 seconds for the whole mast to come down in sections, with the bottom section landing on an adjacent building and the rest collapsing on top of each other on the ground nearby. That should limit the damage caused to the buildings around the base of the mast (beyond the damage already caused by the fire) which should help avoid further delays to building the new mast and bringing it into service.
