Just a thought. With the system I have, the lead from the aerial into my freeview recorder. I then have a lead going from the out socket to my TV. It was my understanding that this means that my tv would get significantly weaker signal?

If this is the case it cant be that the signal is too strong, as on my tv I dont get any channels at all (including channels from PBS1).

Would this rule out the signal being to strong?

yep, identical. Due to the fact that it finally allows us to record things when we are not here again, we have the cable going into the recorder rather than the tv (it then goes from the recorder to the tv as we have had it before but it seems signal is not strong enough for that)

I have no idea whether the tv would have recieved coms5 for the few days that it was available, as I did not try it during that period.

Adrian,
In our area there was no digital signal till switchover, so everyone else pays for their tv. I have asked around but noone is set up to receive digital.

Interestingly, while they are not yet working the ITV channels and a few others have been bookmarked (channel holder but no signal yet) so I am thinking that perhaps the repeater in this area is just slow>

I mean I'm thinking that the relay (sorry wrong word) is taking its time on adding channels.

We went and bought a signal booster yesterday- so far no positive difference at all. We are hoping that when we have the right cable it will at least give us strong enough signal to have freeview on two devices

Hi Adrian
Nope, just got a cheap adapter male to male. Now have the full range of channels I had on one device on two. Coms 5 appears to have been turned up (or perhaps its just not windy or something, but it is coming through clearly)

Coms4 and 6 are missing but I can live with that, and they may appear over time anyway

Thanks for your suggestions,

tim

Hi,
I have recently done a channel scan and got one of the missing multiplexes (still missing some multiplexes but that is a different issue).

When I first got channels on this device, they came in, in the D800 range. I was (very helpfully) instructed to do a reset on that machine which solved it.

However the multiplex coms 5 has recently come through and has put its channels in the D800 range. These have proved totally resistant to a reboot. I have rebooted twice (exactly the same operation that sorted out the other channels), and this group remain in the D800.

Any thoughts as to how to make these channels move to where they should be (bearing in mind they dont move on a channel search or a reboot)

Andy, which direction do you have your ariel pointing? we actually live in church crookham (its only just down the road but it seems to make a huge difference- would it mean that we should be served by a different relay?)

I am finding it very odd, because while switchover is meant to be completed, it doesnt appear to be for us.

PBS2 appeared on the channel list this morning. While none of the channels appear to have yet been activated, it looks like we may get them soon.

I thought switchover was meant to be completed for this area though, which is why I am confused by this drip drip of muxes being added to our channel lineup

Andy:
replaced the ariel cable and you were right, it dealt with most of my problems.

I am however still missing coms 6:

(12 Yesterday, 15 Film 4, 18 4Music, 21 VIVA, 24 ITV 4, 47 4seven, 85 Russia Today English, 89 Al Jazeera English, plus 22 others)

do you get these channels? it seems odd i get the others perfectly but com6 not at all

mark,

my tv does state there is some sugnal on 47 (it goes about half way up the scale) however if i tell it to add channels it fails to do so.

my digital recorder doesnt have the option to manually add so i cant check 47.

Surely with the tv though, this is not a surprise? if i could see them the tv would have added them during the scan?

According to the levels at the top they are broadcast at same strength as com4 & com5

any thoughts would be welcome
